Re: A2A Tanker Support advice

I guess following the real world would be the best option.

Tankers sit in AAR areas (or Towlines, if you're a Brit like me). Multiple tankers serving the same towline at the same time should be stacked in altitude. Unless there is a reason to go high, don't, most tanking occurs between FL 120 and ...

Re: Active Sonar Query

There is a sweet spot around 15 knots or so. Faster than that degrades range.

Active sonar has its place though. Good for deterence. Attack. Herding. Puts a lot of noise in the water, that can affect passive sensors. Good versus SSK on batteries where passive struggles. Generally you would only ...

There is but it is reverse engineered (ie after the event). Think choke points and ports.

Re: Navigation radars should not allow type classification

A navigational radar should not, in and of itself, be able to ID any contact past the point of Azimuth and Range.

Now then there is AIS (is this abstracted - I have no idea) but it will give you MMSI (9 digit code assigned to that transponder) provided its on and not being spoofed.

Finally and ...

Re: ARH missiles pitbull

Also seen this on some launches of SAMs with ARH. This causes many misses, many more than should be misses.
AIM-260 seems to do this too on occasion with a very very low pH as a consquence.
It is almost as if the 'go active' command is not sent via the launching platforms datalink...

That when radar was invented, future anti stealth technology was 'accidentally' invented.

Seriously though (although that one liner is actually true) Stealth is about reducing signatures, but it cant be all things in all radar bands. CMO uses very coarse signature bands, but ...

Re: 1328.10a TSARH Logic Issue and Question

N001 has single target track, which it will switch to once it has designated the target. The radar then should do nothing else until the end of the engagement or the missile shot is trashed. It should, btw, boresight the target to place it in the centre of the much narrower STT beam.

IRL the ...

Re: 1307.14 SM-6 ARH Switches on Too Early and Missiles then Perform 180

Morning
I see it's logged. Just ran the scenario again and disabled the two Burkes. Sea Viper will do the same thing too, so it looks like it might be an issue with more than one ARH SAM. Head switches on far too early and then many missiles will do the 180 turn about half way to the target.

[FIXED+KNOWN] B1307.14 SM-6 ARH Switches on Too Early and Missiles then Perform 180

These could be related but one feels wrong and the other is wrong.

The Seeker on SM-6 goes active 25nm from the target. It has a range of 15nm, so why is it going active so early?

A lot of the missiles will perform a 180 turn, still (via the datalink) assigned to the target, but preceding it ...

Re: Is Patrol Replenishment Without On-Station Interruption Possible Without Micro?

I used to do it with events and mission activations with overlapping missions, but needs to be done when playing from the scenario editor. I have wanted to figure it out with the new ops and multi-mission capability, but haven't yet. With the new mission planned, you could do it through triggers ...

Re: Is Patrol Replenishment Without On-Station Interruption Possible Without Micro?

So ideally the next patrol flight would take off BEFORE the flight already on patrol reaches bingo, so that they arrive in/at the patrol zone when the preceding flight goes bingo and heads home.
Is that possible without micro?

Don't think you can do this using the automation settings available ...

At a higher level: what is the practical effect of this supposed discrepancy ?

Possibly none, but it is not consistent with how other in-game radars work. I sent you a PM example with the rules of thumb we use to determine minimum range and range discrimination (and thereby ambiguity).

I guess ...

1. Altitude listed as ‘Above 30M’ and ‘Below 30M’. Would you assume this refers to ‘thousands of feet’, as opposed to ~100ft, or shorthand for a different altitude band due to board space?

Despite everything saying to me that US measure altitude in feet not metres, the laydown delivery methods ...

You also need to keep designations clear in your head. The Kh-65 is just a shortened range Kh-55. But I think they both retain the AS-15 NATO designation.

Thinking the range was shortened to keep it inside the range of exportable systems, in the same way Kalibr/Club and many other systems they ...

Don't know if this helps but generally the letters after the bureau designator mean specific things.

In the case in point KH-65SE is a S eries modified E xport variant of the KH-55.

So to all intents and purposes a different missile (or at least a different purpose).

As to your original point ...

Re: 1307.9 Aircraft turning off radars when AAR (and not switching them back on again after)

This might actually be somewhat realistic as I imagine that, as part of a pre-AAR checklist, pilots have to turn off or "standby" their radars

Indeed, Radar, IFF, HF, Datalinks - in fact any high powered transmitter will be either off or Stby whilst astern of the tanker.

IFF because ATC want ...

Big Bird antenna height from data base set at zero feet. Terrain height at the Big Bird location is 10 feet amsl.
B-52's at 36000 Feet Amsl

Radar horizon calculates out at 237.02nm

Actual pickup in that save is at 194nm for Big Bird vice 210 for Grave Stone and Cheese Board.
