RE: Sub vs Sub possible??

<t> Hi Trapasso!<br/>
<br/>
Unfortunately, I cannot find the source. I remember it to be in a german-language book, but since I used to sell maritime books some years ago, it might be that I did come across this book during that time and do not have it on my own.<br/>
<br/>
Keep you posted if I ...

RE: Sub vs Sub possible??

<t> Hi everybody!<br/>
<br/>
If I summarize, there is no sub vs. sub capability. Thanx for your contributions.<br/>
<br/>
I had not really had time to leaf through the various books, but If I remember it right, most kills of sub against subs were achieved on subs running on the surface. To my ...

Sub vs Sub possible??

<r> Hi everybody!<br/>
Does anybody ever noticed a sub vs sub combat in WITP??<br/>
I have just seen a table of ships sunk by torpedoes in WWII and (again) got aware of quite a few sub vs sub kills at least in the European / atlantic theater.<br/>
So far, I have never ever noticed something like ...

RE: The P-39 was an inferior fighter...as if we didn't all know this already

<t> HI!<br/>
<br/>
In a game against the Jap AI, my P-39's actually have achieved more kills than they have losses (end of May 42). Fact is, against the KB's high-experience Zero's plus bonus early on no allied fighter fairs well. Later, with some accumulated experience of the P-39 units and less ...

RE: Noob question: Aircraft use to reduce chokepoints

<t> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
As Allied, I'll go for a reduction of the airfield first in order to reduce oposition. Then I start to atack ports, ressource & heavy industry to make the bases depending from imports of supply (since I love killing ships....). I'll do ground attack only a couple of turns before ...

RE: Subs not reloading Mines

Hi!

Had the a similiar problem in the stock game: Of the two mine-slots, only one was loaded. But converting the task force to Sub patrol and resupplying it normally solved the problem. But this was only in ports of size 9 (is this different in CHS?).

RE: Trying campaign against the AI

<t> Hi!<br/>
I would not place anything under AI's control, if not for it's apparent stupidity, then for the fact that you'll should know every little bit of the available resources and where they do hide away...! In my opinion, its much more fun this way. It takes time (I am playing for 4 months ...

RE: OT - Why no modern float plane/flying boat

<r> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
The russians used quite a few flying boats for ASW during the cold war, mainly in the Artic areas and the Pacific. <br/>
<br/>
A mayor reason for pahsing out floatplanes is in my opinion that they increasingly became surplus due to the fact that modern turboprop & jet/turbofan ...

<t> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
Very sound advice!<br/>
<br/>
To concentrate and hold up while preserving as much force as possible is the rule of the day. <br/>

The DEI are a good defensive postion, probably except exposed places like Brunei & Kuching.<br/>

RE: VietNam Vet compared to WWII vet stats

<t> Hi !<br/>
<br/>
With all due respect to those people (of all involved parties), The Vietnam Conflict does not really belong here. Since my wife is from Cambodia and nearly lost her whole family there, I also have a opinion concerning this conflict and its aftermaths. But politically influenced ...

RE: To Kill a Sub

<r> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
As far as I remember snorkels for subs where introduced by the dutch navy. Those subs and/or plan where captured by the Germans when they invaded the Netherlands. <br/>
It might be that the data was transfered to Japan, but I think there was never a snorkel sub in the IJN.<br ...

RE: To Kill a Sub

<t> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
For me ASW by aircraft works out more satisfying if I set the alt to 1000 feet. It seems to work out even with Naval Search as a setting.<br/>
<br/>
Another Issue is the set range and total available no. of aircraft. Try to reduce the spread of the search, i.e. for a B17 use 8 ...

RE: IJN Small Combattants

<t> They did have some problems due to poor (new?) welding technics, as far as I heard.<br/>
But an earlier statement concerning german naval designs in WWII is right: it was getting poorer & poorer (not only the actual production, but also the design). Of course there where exceptions to the rule ...

RE: IJN Small Combattants

<t> Hi!<br/>
In fact, the german prewar designs following the "Raubtier" and "Raubvogel"-Classes were underarmed in terms of artillery with just one 4'', but pretty good seaboats, in fact better than every other german destroyer of that area. <br/>
During the war, the so-called Fleet-Toprpedoboats ...

RE: IJN Small Combattants

<t> Hi Q-Ball!<br/>
The Ootori's and Tomodzurus are a result of the 1922 Washington Treaty which allowed for a more or less unlimeted number of warships below 600tons displacement (or thereabouts). In other Navies, i.e. German Navy (Raubvogel-Class Torpedoboats), French Navy (don't get the name ...

RE: WitP Wish List

<t> Hi there!<br/>
<br/>
I would like to add some features to the Wish Lists: <br/>
<br/>
A Category: Sub mangement<br/>
<br/>
It would be nice to be able to define a patrol area for the subs, i.e. by setting 2 or more "waypoints" between which they patrol. As to my experience, the level of ...

RE: Question on submarine tactics (Allied)

<t> Hi everybody!<br/>
<br/>
Am I mistaken or does my subs (I play as Allied against the AI) achieve much better results if they are "on the move" and not sitting in one hex? I have been annoyed with the bad results of my subs and started to move them along the suspected shipping lines, with quite ...
