Read Douglas S. Freeman's trilogy on "Lee's Lieutenants" for that thought.

A primer for anyone who wants to play as CSA in this game.

RE: Investigating further for a purchase

I have been palying this game since it was released.  I find it one of the most enjoyable games I have seen in a long time, especially for War between the States historical interest.

The two bloackade runners are the initial vessels for CSA. I find addtional runners as early as possible give a boost to the CSA economy.

I do not have the screenshot. This disappeared when the AOS moved out of Parkersburg. The selection arrow above the flag/portrait box.

Grant with the Army of Shenandoah

<t> Playing Coming Fury as CSA in late Sep 1861. I have the Army of the Shenandoah in Parkersburg. When I left click on the corps symbol and click on the right selection arrow, I get the U.S. Grant four star portrait with the 2nd US Army. I do not think he is even a full general yet in the scenario ...

RE: Working on Patch IV

The number and type of weapon upgrades could tied to the arsenal/foundry (or other factors) development of the nation. This would allow for non-historical variables in technology acquisiton while attempting to keep the industrial evoloution relevant.

<t> I find the detailed combat the most intriguing, and variable, aspect of the game. I have restored and replayed the same enagagement over and over to diffrerent outcomes each time. Without DC, I find the game somewhat predictable for both sides at any difficuly setting once the nuances of the ...

<t> Speaking of fun. I have been playing the Federals now for some time and actually find winnig with them quite possible. I think this game is well balanced between the to factions with the ability to adjust the settings and preferences. The detailed combat actually makes up the best part of the ...

RE: Fleets and the Mississippi

<t> IMO, the "American Civil War" is simply the theme behind FOF. FOF does not advertise itself as a "simulation" of historic events. In fact, I have not been able to duplicate the actual history of the conflict thusfar. For me, the most intriguing aspect of the FOF design is the opportunity to make ...

RE: naval Commanders?

<t> Remeber that FOF gives you "what if" capability. Therefore, I see no reason why academies could not train CSN commodores or captains. There are plenty of historic Confederate nautical names to employ. You have to read the appropriate history references. Frankly, the Federal leaders are nothing ...
