RE: Bombing of Rabatana

If volcanic eruptions make it into the game, will there be a new air mission for diverting the lava flow by bombing?

RE: Does Allied AI think outside the box????

<t> For added fun against the AI, try a limited sub or no sub game. Variants include:<br/>
<br/>
1) No subs at all...they head off-map soon as and stay there.<br/>
2) No subs until a certain date...after the 4/42 upgrades or whenever you think the AI has had a fair crack of the whip.<br/>

RE: Does Allied AI think outside the box????

<t> No doubt at all it teleports. Recently I've done a few run throughs of Andy Macs reworked stock scenarios, playing as Allies up to 1st April 1942. In the last one, I switched to the Japanese side after the last turn to see what it was doing - by then the AI had cleared Singapore and was on with ...

You'd have to confirm with Lowpe, but I don't think he targeted city. Perhaps DBB has changed something in the targeting? In my current game with Francois, I was 100% port strike with KB against Manila and had 20-30 aircraft target the city ...

RE: Malaria Zones & Base Effects

Says 1000 on the game map.

Seems odd, but I'm guessing it's to allow the bases on the India-Burma border to pull enough supplies across the hills and jungles to support at least some action without having to be built up to ahistorical size forts or airfields.

RE: Spitfire (OT)

<t> As a point of interest, there's at least one time when a Spitfire without modifications was landed on a carrier. It occurred during the first of the two ferry missions that HMS Eagle & USS Wasp carried out in early 1942 to supply Spitfires to Malta. A pilot who took off from the Wasp accidently ...

AFAIK only fuel and supplies suffer from spoilage...resources and oil don't.

RE: A few newbie questions

<t> By no means an expert myself, but FWIW on some of your questions:<br/>
<br/>
1)I generally use 'a', but with 3 ships which seems to be the optimum. Fast ships (ie destroyers) I have on react 3, slower ones on react 2. I generally find that only destroyers will react, and that only 2 or 3 hexes ...

RE: Are these bugss?

<t> No3 isn't a bug...it's fog of war working as designed. If I remember correctly, it could take up to 6 months before you find out for sure which ship you sank...or even if you sank it at all. It's not unusual to see a CV or battleship appear on the sunk list and then vanish with a message that ...

<t> Re: Supply at Bataan. If you decide to hole up there and abandon Manila, use the 'Supplies Required' slider on the base screen to up the supply requirement. This will suck supply out of Manila and other Luzon bases into Bataan. Even with what has been used for combat, you should be able to stash ...

RE: Saving MacArthur - Rookie AAR

<t> Wouldn't get too excited over the ops losses. In the 'earlies' the AI has no problems with flying extended range out of relatively small airfields, so it always has eye-wateringly high ops losses on key airframes.<br/>

RE: Noob question-Politcal Points

Noumea is just 19 hexes from Brisbane, just within Catalina range. In the early days, buying it out to Australia Command might actually work out cheaper in PP's than buying out US units from the West Coast and shipping them out to garrison it.

<t> The Pensacola Convoy starts home-ported to Brisbane, but with Suva set as the destination. Unless you change that, it will offload everything in Fiji and arrive in Brisbane empty. The in-game convoy doesn't carry the planes - instead the P-40 and A-24 groups ( 3 of each) automatically arrive in ...
