RE: How to add ship/plane easy

Any word on the status of the next patch? How far is it from release?

RE: Nagumo has too many Zeros?

I'm pretty sure the database for each scenario is independent of the other scenarios. Compare the Enterprise as used in the Wake, Midway and Philippine Sea scenarios. The data changes as the ship equipment changes and the crew gets better, even though it's the same basic ship.

RE: Carrier Ratings

<t> If catching enemy carriers with armed and fueled planes dramatically increases the spread of fire and permanent damage, is there any way for the player to know this has occured? If it isn't signaled somehow now (and I don't believe it is) it would add excitement if a visiual or audio que was giv...

RE: Carrier Ratings

<t> Fire Control is gunnery thing (p47 Manual) There is an AA rating as well so I guess this is the main guns.<br/> <br/> I will be interested in the answers to your questions. From my experience the Japanese carrier's damage control is nil. Often moderate damage, that an American carrier would repa...

RE: Editor Question

Well the "c" & "p" buttons copy and paste... duh! I'm not sure what my problem was with the saving of the animations was. Seems to be 'ok now.

I wasn't trying to add new resources.... just trying to manipulate the exsisting game resources.

Editor Question

<t> This probably has a simple answer. In the editor on the ship class screen there is a process for assigning topdown and profile animations. The manual doesn't deal with this at all, but I think I figured out at least part of it. <br/> <br/> Still I don't understand the function of the "c" and "p"...

Bait?

<t> I read somewhere that the CAW AI doesn’t know how to bait. Well here’s what happened to me. I was playing Coral Sea as the allies (random section was on so I don’t know which variant). I had my carriers lurking in some weather just south of the tip of New Guinea. Search has plotted several light...

Search after carrier lost

<t> I noticed that after an allied carrier is lost the TG retains it's air search capability. It still has the rosette but the carrier and strike buttons aren't active. The planes continue to take off and return. I've seen this several times and in different scenarios since the patch. I have a save ...

RE: Funny result in Wake

<t> If the scenario's suppose to be historical the victory conditions are badly flawed (IMO). The allies can lose all three carriers and win decisive by sinking one of the supply ships. Losing three carriers at that point in the war would have been a disaster. The loss of face from another failure w...

RE: Does surfcae combat even work?

<t> I've had several encounters between surface forces where a carrier was involved. I think it's difficult to bring on the fight through movement commands though. I usually give the "engage enemy TG" command. The carrier's escorts screen though so it's hard to sink a carrier until they've been disp...

RE: Nagumo has too many Zeros?

<t> Sure Just load Midway and save as some other name so your original scenario doesn't get messed up.<br/> <br/> It's easy to play with the number of planes and ships starting points. I'm having more trouble dinking with the war cards but I've gotten a couple of simple scenarios to work. The docune...

RE: Nagumo has too many Zeros?

<t> The more recent numbers are probably more correct. With the 6th AG planes distributed like that they wouldn't show up as a group. Then there's the issue of spare planes and how they are counted.<br/> <br/> I haven't really looked at this aspect, but how does the CAW initial location of forces co...

RE: Nagumo has too many Zeros?

<r> I don't have a copy of "Shattered Sword" but Morison vol IX gives the total planes for the four carriers as 272. Of that total he shows 93 as fighters.<br/> <br/> In another book "Titans of the Seas", Belote says "the four carriers had 93 Zeros, plus 24 being ferried... 86 Vals.. and 93 Kates". ...

Editor Questions

<t> In the editor I've noticed that when adding the actions "Local Response" and "Area Response" to a War Card, the "Add New Action " Button covers up part of the drop down menue for the last entry. This limits the options that can be selected for the "Auxiliary" category. I can if I'm careful reach...

Random Scenarios

Is anybody working on randomizing any of the other scenarios?

Also am I right in guessing that you need to give the War Rooms a name like "Mystery Variant 1" for them to get considered by the randomizing process?
