RE: JTCS Tactical AI

I recently jumped back on to the CS bandwagon with JTCS and started refurbishing some old scenarios. While testing these I was surprised to find that the AI does not seem to have been touched at all since the old days. I was further surprised ...

RE: Serious bugs only please

I've seen the same thing happen with leaders. It is an AI issue, and from what I've read so far nothing was done to it. Your only bet is to fix the unit in question.

RE: Indirect artillery fire....

Calling in artillery was not as easy as is represented in the game. I don't think all units should be able to spot for artillery-e.g., truck units.

AI controlled leaders and smoke

<t> When designing a scenario to played against the AI on the defense how does everyone handle leaders and smoke allocation?<br/>
<br/>
Is it better to fix a leader in a defensive position with a critical unit, or boost the unit's morale by one or two to compensate? I've also considered adding a ...

Try at theblitz.org. They should have all the patches for the Talonsoft version, in their download section.

RE: Indirect artillery fire....

<t> It could even be simpler with a logical flag on a unit to declare it "FO capable" set in the scenario editor and thus could spot for artillery. So a scenario designer if he wished could leave it as it is currently and allow all of his units to spot. I do like the separate ammo levels for direct ...

RE: Indirect artillery fire....

Sorry I wasn't clear. As an example, I meant to say that the Americans would have more FO's in the field than the Russians. All nationalities would have FO's. The question is how many would be in a scenario?

RE: Indirect artillery fire....

This is where national characteristics could come into play with the Americans and British getting more FO's than the Germans and the Russians, thus showing more 'flexibility' in calling in artillery missions.

RE: tactical level game

<t> I second John Tiller's Campaign Series. The AI isn't that great on the offense but depending on the scenario design, there are quite a few decent ones. The editors are good. If you like designing and tinkering it is a great series. A new update, v1.03, is coming out shortly that will revive the ...

RE: Aircraft target priorities.....

<t> One thing that I have noticed in PBEM is that players will place a lattice of disposable units along routes where air strikes will likely target to potentially draw off the strike from an intended target. I am not sure if visibility is a factor in calling off a strike but it should-especially ...

RE: 'Historical' or 'Balanced'

Historical against the PO and balanced for PBEM. It is always interesting to read about an engagement and then play it out to see some of the factors that the commanders had to deal with. PBEM is competitive and therefore requires that both sides have a chance to win.

RE: MCS User WISHLIST

Thanks for your quick response. What about a lesser chance for calibers above 57mm? Maybe 25%? With a low-lying carriage, a 75mm ATG when camouflaged should be hard to spot at least initially.

Regards.

RE: MCS User WISHLIST

I would like ATG's that do not automatically become visible after the first shot. There should be progressive chance after each shot of being spotted by a non disrupted enemy unit. Give them a greater chance of drawing first blood.

RE: Scenario Design and the AI

<t> Unless, I'm mistaken, there hasn't been any modifications to the AI from v1.03. It would be nice to see this portion of the program worked on like in TOAW. I remember leader units doing a shuffle back and forth. Was kind of wierd when it happen. I found by fixing the unit and then releasing on a ...
