Re: Manpower and pool

If you're playing a human, some players would object to using lots of Airborne Brigades to make Divisions/Corps. It might be considered a bit gamey, even if it is AP-intensive.

The Ski Brigades, IMO, are too small to be useful except in deep snow (when they get multipliers). Not sure what others ...

Re: Manpower and pool

Not sure how lethal a unit is but when it comes to support units eg mortars, artillery, AA etc you can look at how many 'men' per gun, and for that matter trucks. In general build non motorised SUs to save on trucks where possible.

Re: Grand Campaign --- Q-Ball vs Sertorius21

"well stocked depot" ?

This was definitely not a fashionable concept during the 1941-1942 winter, most of the units south of Bryansk being around 50% on supplies, fuel and ammo. So I did refit a number of divisions on the map, but sent probably 15-20 back in Reserve including a few small ...

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

Thanks Q-Ball, M60 and Wiedrock.

The Axis 1942 offensive took out about 1 Army of my forces. The front line runs roughly from Leningrad to Taganrog with a Eastward bulge South of Tula. I hold kerch.

Most of this line appears rock solid with Axis defensive CV typically > 30. I am not quite ...

Re: Quick Questions Thread

Supplied units across the Kerch straight that are unconnected by land don't seem to be able to attach support units.
Is there a rule that for SUs there has to be a land link to the rail network ?

This anomaly has been there for ever and a day and wouldnt be surprised if it is responsible for ...

Full screen. Thats it. I am not all that tech savy.

And to be honest after an hour or so I need a break from so I have my browser open, and sometimes the manual.

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

Thanks Q-Ball and Wiedrock.

Let me put the question in a different way.

Tank Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and are there any I should never assign.

Cav Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and are there any I should never assign.

Rifle Corps - what are the best SUs to assign and are ...

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

I have reformed the Red Army and I think I have stopped the Axis in 1942.

Any advice or tips on how I go on the offensive? New ground for me.

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

The first place I go looking for trucks is depots. Sometimes a depot seems to have gathered lots so I modify my supply priority etc.

Re: Let us reform the Red Army of Workers and Peasants! (Advice needed)

I am finding in late 1942 that the Red Army is already hand-to-mouth on Heavy Artillery (152 ML-20), and in Artillery (122mm), so finding a bunch more for Artillery Division is impractical, and will be robbing from Rifle and Army Artillery units.

How many Artillery(all) Regiments do you have ...

Re: Maintaining Offensive Momentum

Problem ; I found that I was assigning SU with low or zero CPP to frontline HQs

With my method every SU that I assign from Stavka is at or close to 100% CPP.

Without my method I could assign from Stavka a unit that has zero CPP as it may have just recently arrived from Reserve.

Of course I ...

Re: Maintaining Offensive Momentum

CPP has altered my game style in an admin/maintenance sense.

New support units from Reserve go to Stavka with zero CPP. And the window thAT is used to assign SUs to HQs does not show CPP. To avoid assigning SUs with low CPP I do the following :

Assign a HQ to an Assualt Front for quicker buildup ...

Turn 5

How long should one have to take turns before it is considered a forfeited game? Post in the AAR please.

Depends. It has taken me weeks to do a turn but then I always communicate with my opponent. Sometimes life gets in the way of a good game.

In this instance give it till the 8th ...

Re: Rifle corps in 14 december 1941? WTF

Perhaps this could be answered through game experience.

I have 2 games in progress as the Soviets.

Game 1. Open TBs. Getting belted. Leningrad lost. Axis close to Moscow and not going anywhere. At T32, Jan 1942. Playing on out of politeness.

Red Army still has 4 tank divs, 3 in TBs and one to ...
