Yes, the 30 second "Sweep" time is for every radar and that value comes from the H3 paper rules, most of the sensors are only swept every 30 seconds, passive sonar even less often, 5 minutes (on the theory that a contact/track needs time to be ...

Questions about under-the-hood

<t> Just some random questions about how Harpoon works "under-the-hood".<br/>
<br/>
A) I'm attacking a fixed base and want to minimize being detected, hence my radar is off and am flying at low altitude. As I close in on the target, the assistant tells me I should turn on the radar... Should I?? I ...

I've noticed that when I select an aircraft to pursue enemy aircraft the "assistant" will often recommend setting the speed to military (or afterburner) for the pursuit, but at a non-optimal altitude (in my opinion).<br/>

RE: Resolution Question

<t> Slightly off topic is that while "Yes, it's windows based",&nbsp;the width of the group screen appears limited.&nbsp;&nbsp; I would like to be able to stretch the group window to the full width of my display, but it only widens to about 3/5'ths of the main HCE window.&nbsp; Darn!</t>

RE: Appropriate Loadouts

<t> Nah, its not that I don't know how to select a target, been playing Harpoon way too long. I fully understand the target selection process and am getting past that. It's just the loadouts do not work for the target. As I said, I target an airfield, select some A6's with Walleyes, launch them, and ...

Appropriate Loadouts

<t> What loadouts are appropriate for what targets??? Example: I'm trying to attack an airbase with some A6's using Precis-LR (Walleye), I select Attack>Surface, allocate the planes and launch. Right after the planes launch I get a "Group xxx completed intercept of enemy units and is loitering in ...

RE: Order menus/attacks

AFA #1,  I had a bit of similar trouble on H97,  I needed to readjust the Windows' fonts I was using to something smaller.  Apparently HCE has 95% of the same User Interface code with the big changes to the AI engine.

good luck!

RE: Oval range circles

Thanks for the fast reply! I was thinking it had something with the map (Mercator vs. Cylindrical projection?). At least it didn't carry over to the other battlesets (that I can tell).

p.s. -> sorry for the giant image!

What I mean is many of the range circles around my planes "pulse" between horizontal ovals and the normal circles. It does this for Missile ...
