RE: The PBEM upload file in save folder

<t> Yeah I appreciate that it is just a temporary internet outage on my part and we have already carried on with the game. <br/>
<br/>
The only reason I reported it is that I was able to see my opponents turn and gain an unfair advantage - In describing the loss of connection I was just trying to ...

The PBEM upload file in save folder

<t> Hi,<br/>
<br/>
I tried to upload a pbem turn, but it failed. There was no error message I was just presented with the blank menu screen you see when the game is loading. This lasted around 15 mins or so until I used task manager to close the program.<br/>
<br/>
I checked the server and it ...

RE: Opponent Wanted, Either Side, Learning Game

Hi are you still looking for an opponent?

I'd like to play the 1939 scenario as the allies - will be first pbem so a learning experience for me too.

Naval Battlefields

<t> Frequently when playing a detailed Naval battle with around 20 ships a side (which I don't think is stupidly oversized) I find my tactics are constrained by the size of the battlefield. For example, attempting to pull ahead of the enemy fleet and 'cross the T' or any sort of manuvering to gain ...

RE: H6K5 vs B17

<t> Well I'd never seen it and had no idea that patrol planes would fight each other. I assumed the nature of their mission would prohibit attacking enemy planes. <br/>
<br/>
Then again when playing the allies in the early months the B-17 does seem to be the only air to air weapon capable of ...

After the War - A Japanese POW's story.

<r> This site I was linked to is the (true) story a Japanese POW in Russian labour camps after WW2. Its presented (in a somewhat surreal fashion for such harrowing subject matter) as a series of hand drawn cartoons with (poorly translated) commentary.<br/>

RE: "First Internet" the "key" to Winning the Battle of Britain

<t> How long did the offensive against cities last? I was under the impression that the second daylight raid on london incurred such heavy losses the Germans switched to night raids. Was their an earlier campaign against smaller towns? The speed with which the Luftwaffe switched to night raids would ...

Fighty Fight Fight McFight.

<r> Hey,<br/>
<br/>
20 something seeks opponent for War in the Pacific. Prefers to play Allies but can bat for the other side when required. Ideal respondent would keep house rules simple - say 6 ship ASW max, no overloading airfields, no 4E bombing below 10000ft perhaps including a few of your ...

RE: Ridiculous things you learn!

<t> I disagree about removing China. Even though land combat in China is laborious and rarely offers the satisfaction of a sudden ambush on the high seas the fact that its there is a major part of the appeal of War in The Pacific to me. It showcases the complete war against Japan in a way that most ...

RE: Force Z at Kuching

<t> We'll thats the advantage of steaming away from Japanese airpower instead of into its teeth I suppose. Was there a landing at Kuching on Dec 8th '41 that Force Z could have gone after instead of heading north up the malay peninsula (I didn't think there was but I dont know that much about the ...

RE: Use for APDs?

What is an APD? I mean I've seen them in game, and the ASW/Fast transport roles make sense given their statistics, but what were they designed to do? From the designation "APD" I'd guess they were a troop carrying destroyer hybrid? But thats really clutching at straws.

<t> Not Museum, but still history related, a history professor told us about a phone call from a TV studio who wanted to make a reality show about the training people would receive to become a Knight. Specifically they wanted to know how many times someone could take their "Knight Exams".<br/>

RE: Off topic question, your fav movie scene?

<t> I'm always fond of the scene in a Bridge too Far just after the Waal river assault and the tanks are pouring over the Nimijgen (sp) road bridge, the German SS officer orders the bridge blown and it doesn't work - he says something like "My god there only xx kilometres from Arnhem! Who can stop ...

Was just playing a stock turn and noticed one of the Australian Buffalo squadrons upgrades to Vengances. 21 or 24 RAAF I think.
