HQ Auto-Command change needed

"Autocommand" should prioritize units of their own nation first. It is extremely frustrating when Germany or Britain has units (especially air units) out of command and supply because the German or British HQ is commanding Romanian, Hungarian, South African or Australian units while the Romanian ...

France Meta

Been gone for a minute because of this, but it looks like the meta is still to pour every single allied unit on the planet into France as allies to plus up their morale, and to launch Fall Weiss no later than turn 3 to counter as Axis?

Other pet peeves:
Vladivostok blockade has been nerfed a bit ...

Re: New Game?

Something else that people frequently underestimate is just how extreme the difference between MTOE strength and actual combat power can be on the battlefield. Russia is the most frequently cited modern example of this, however I'm personally more familiar with U.S. allies and partners, so I'll use ...

Re: New Game?

I've read a fair amount off and on about the fall of the Roman Empire, and made a living figuring out how organizations do and dont function. Personally, I think the most plausible book out there is by Adrian Goldsworthy "How Rome Fell".

In it, he emphasizes the near constant state of civil war and ...

Thanks Mercenarius.

May we see a graphic of the Huns messing around? :)

The grade "scholares" is present in your game? I guess the pseudocomitatenses is not needed because they were limitanei .

Re: New Game?

It would be a fun personal goal in a late scenario (like 395) to see if one player can rescue Britannia/avoid abandoning it. Or conquer the empire as a "British" emperor (Constantine III maybe) if the game allows for that.

If I recall the reason Britain was "abandoned" was because something ...

New ELO Mirror match. allor/gadjan (not sure which he is ranked as.... feel free to chime in) vs lwarmonger

Mirror match complete.

Allies lwarmonger (victory) vs Axis allor (loss):
Pretty straight forward game. 1942 invasion of Italy offset an "all in" to Russia strategy by Allor, and meant ...

Re: Allied Balance

Shouldn't the surrender exploit be the easiest thing in the world to fix? Just get rid of it for everyone who isn't a major surrendering. There are already specific events for how Belgium surrender impacts Allies.... cover stuff like that through events, and don't let Luxembourg or any other minor ...

Re: Allied Balance

PBEM results last 3 months were Axis 19 victories and Allis 15 so yes slight advantage to Axis - however need to adjust that to make sure Allied loss were same level experience players as Axis.

Could see slight tweak of Soviet/US mobilization to offset "surrender exploit" and possible adjustment ...

Re: Allied Balance

My feed-back is "baby steps".

Having just gotten my butt handed to me as Allies, i would say that "yes, there is room for improvement."

That being said, my opponent Ngineer played a straight-up game. Nothing gamey in my opinion.

But baby-steps... change too many things, and you wont know worked ...

Re: And then for some criticism

This issue got worse now that subs are harder to kill. The Persian Gulf zone is pretty unfair to Allies right now.

Conversely, Axis raiding off the coast of the USA was very successful in the first half of 42, but has anyone ever raided these hexes successfully in MP? I haven't seen it ...

Re: Allied Balance

I agree. But what do you mean by "D-Day 1943" because historically the Allies did knock out Italy in 1943 by landing armies in Europe.

Tweaking mobilization levels (for USSR in particular) is definitely one way to make USSR stronger or USA weaker. However I think it might not be the best way to ...

Allied Balance

As has been discussed on some threads elsewhere, right now the balance between Allied powers is a little off. The Soviets are usually struggling by 1942, and are very dependent on a D-Day invasion by 1943 to save them. This would seem to indicate that the United States is a little too strong, and ...

And then for some criticism

So one long term frustration I have with this game, that I know has been mentioned elsewhere but is worth mentioning again, are the ahistorical and gamey tactics that have seemingly been deliberately introduced, and added to over time

What I'm referring to are the blockades, specifically of ...

Re: TTP's for playing Allies

An excellent post - well done.

I think the only thing I do differently is to prioritise Naval Weaponry for the UK. Level 2 is key to make your CVs destructive (IMO).

That is interesting, I'll have to try this. Other than ASW tech, I almost never research anything naval for Britain.... always ...

Re: TTP's for playing Allies

I do not play mp but I do notice many mp players skimping on tech in ways that surprise me. For example I see USSR failing to get C+C tech, UK failing to get enough ASW tech, or one side failing to reach level 3 Spy tech.

USA tech strategy isn't the hardest for any major (UK is) but one of the ...

TTP's for playing Allies

I've been playing a number of games, both ranked and unranked, against some fairly decent players, however I've noticed some common issues with their play that seems to be fairly consistent across players. Feedback on this thread is encouraged, and I'm sure some of this has been said before, but it ...

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

New ELO Game started. lwarmonger (Axis) vs MrLongLeg (Allies).

Good pace. Game finished with lwarmonger victory in 1943 when MrLongLeg resigned. All three capital's for the Soviet Union were captured along with Cairo. U.S. landing in Libya failed to prevent the capture of Cairo. Large forces in ...
