RE: 3D View - Not Happening

<t> Try going into the game, Options, Tacview and double check the path. The correct path (for me) is D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Tacview\Tacview64.exe<br/>
It appears that you may be looking at the Demo version of Tacview which I suspect was disabled when you purchased the full ...

Thanks Cik! Yes, the 135's are too fast for the helos. I'll give the mission editor thing a try though.

Selective AAR

<t> I hope this is the right place in the Forum for this question. I'm playing the Operation Brass Drum Scenario and I'm having trouble figuring out how to configure the KC-130J tankers to refuel only the MH=53E Mine hunting helos. Whenever they enter the area, any aircraft that is running low on ...

<t> A far more interesting alternate history lesson would be if the Nimitz used the Tomcats to snuff out all the Japanese aircraft and left the IJN Admirals wondering just what happened. Imagine, 10 minutes of hectic radio calls, then silence. If the aircraft were all lost prior to hitting land, they ...

Also...how do you get your jets to RTB when all they want to do is hit the tanker and refuel? I had to move a few of my tankers closer to home plate to even get the jets moving towards their base. Annnd...lost an F-22 to fuel starvation ...

Probably not what you are trying to find out, but if you sink it, it will definitely get identified. [:D]

Keep in mind that once you go thru all your AIM-120's with the F-18's, you can always equip the F-35's the same way.

RE: AAR - Tora, Tora, Tora - not?

<t> OK, I played this a couple of times the past day. The first time, I managed to lose 7 of the A-6E's but totally crushed the IJN. The second time, 0 losses for me. I found that using the Sparrow AAM's instead of the Phoenix helped me get a better kill rate. I also used the A-7's in a A2A mode and ...

RE: Warning! SEAD in tutorial 1.

<t> Yep, that was what I was talking about. Even a large unguided missile fired in your direction will get your attention. It would be a 1 in a million chance that it would hit anything, but from one of the BUFF instructor pilots I knew, it was still something to worry about, and yes, the EWO's knew ...

RE: Air Combat Tutorial

<t> I would say that the game-play is fairly accurate for the time period. The Shrike missile was a pretty close range ARM and it's difficult getting through this scenario without the loss of a A-7 or two. I worked on F4-G's while in the Air Force and those guys were very happy when the HARM was ...

RE: Warning! SEAD in tutorial 1.

<t> It was my understanding during the Vietnam war, the NVA would launch SA-2's blindly (no radar guidance) at the B-52's when we were hammering Hanoi and the SEAD aircraft had done their job. I don't know if the missiles would attempt to turn on their own radars after several seconds of flight time ...

RE: Best way to learn this game?

Play the tutorials several time to get the hang of the keyboard commands and understanding of the basics. The primary thing to keep in mind is that you need to get command of the air to rule the waves (as it were). Enemy radars and bases are number 1 on your list of things to destroy first.

I just found this scenario linked to from another forum. Sweet...I always wondered what the end of The Final Countdown would have been like if the strike was not called off. Thanks for all your hard work....and you even left in the nukes.[:D]

Sunburn, the mine clearing was the only issue I noticed with this scenario. Thanks for all the hard work on making this an excellent war game.

is a SAM site still a threat without acquisition radar?

Yes, they could be. If they can be fired manually, without guidance though, you would indeed have to be very lucky to hit any aircraft.

Could anyone tell me the trick to clearing out the sea mines? My mine sweeping equipment can find them but they don't destroy them and I have not been able to manually target them with anything. Any help would be appreciated.

RE: Operation Shamal Tactics

<t> There are no stealth A/C in this scenario unless you add them. You could do this by adding an airfield at Khamis Mushait in Saudi Arabia and adding the F-117's. You'll find that you will probably be only able to fly 1 mission with them and they will consume a lot of tanker resources. <br/>
