Re: How to Alternate Your Counter-Factual History Assumptions

Would Stalin have sat on his hands while Germany's eastern defenses were drained to support its Western Europe offense? I think Stalin would have taken advantage and invaded western Poland and the Balkans.

Re: Use of tactical nuclear weapons

Using such weapons is a political decision. So I'll just say what another politician said. "Don't. Don't. Don't."

I agree, but we don't have access to Putin's mindset. He may use them, even if it makes no sense from a battlefield standpoint. But what if he chooses to do so, is there anything ...

Use of tactical nuclear weapons

There's been a lot of news lately about the possibility that Russia may use tactical nuclear weapons to subdue Ukraine. No one (except for Putin) wants to see that happen but it makes me wonder if using tactical nuclear weapons makes sense in a battlefield context. While they are less damaging than ...

Re: The errors of the Barbarossa operation

Very interesting analysis. I wonder if, with all the errors the Germans made, was there any way it could have prevailed as long as the Russians didn't surrender?

Re: Queen Elizabet II

I'm late weighing in but I'd like to mention something that hasn't been addressed.
Elizabeth was more than just a nice person, more than just the Queen. She represented the British nation, which has been the most supportive ally of my country, the United States, since World War I. As Britain's ...

Re: Have you considered the US Civil War, or has it been done to death?

I have several Civil War games but I find myself preferring those focusing on strategy, rather than tactical battles. That's because Civil War battles were pretty simplistic. Unlike the Napoleonic era, cavalry was a non-factor on the battlefield. Artillery was effective only at short distances. The ...

Re: Strategic Command American Civil War out on June 30th

Very interested in this game. I've looked at the videos and it seems to be a good balance between gameplay and realism. Some ACW games are too abstract, others too detailed. I'm hopeful SCACW strikes the right balance.

Re: Klotzen. A new indepth AWNT review

Excellent review. I've had my eye on PZC 2 for some time, but I play PZC so often I'm hesitant to get involved with another, similar game, even though it does look very appealing. There's also the issue of my antiquated PC, which will make PZC 2 have significant problems. Since Klotzen will probably ...

Re: Strategic Command: American Civil War Announced

Slaves had extra incentive to flee the southern states post proclamation and joined the Union armies in droves. Most didn't fight but helped out in many other ways. The exodus of the slaves was very detrimental to the Confederate war effort.

I hope the game factors in the effect of freed slaves on the Union armies, especially post Emancipation Proclamation.

Re: Strategic Command: American Civil War Announced

I hope the game factors in loyalty. The war was very unpopular in different regions. For instance parts of Tennessee and Virginia were opposed to the Confederacy and New York and Baltimore were very anti-Lincoln. These loyalty issues should require the use of badly needed troops to guard against ...
