Base disappearing

I'm playing the Centaurs scenario, and suddenly after 18:00 on Day 1, my army base starts disappearing (losing personnel & equipment until it gets merged) for no apparent reason; see attached saved game.

I'm assuming this is a bug?

Unit experience oddities

<t> I have noticed that in many scenarios, allied units which in reality were green or without combat experience, are given high experience. For instance, in 'Battle of the Roadblocks', many units(if not most) of the 9th Armored Division are listed as 'Crack'. I won't argue the historical facts here ...

RE: New player question

<t> I haven't paid much attention to logistics in Hofen except that your artillery begins without ammunition, which might or might not be a crucial point depending on your choice of tactics. The key to winning Hofen, IMHO, is outflanking and moving into built-up areas at night. A head on attack will ...

RE: New player question

<t> If you prefer playing as the axis, like me, I would recommend Höfen. It has three regiments and some supporting units, which makes it a great start for a newbie that doesn't want to get overwhelmed. After that 'Losheim Gap' would be a logical choice. It has a lot of the same types of units as ...

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

Unfortunately, no, I didn't save the game at the beginning this time. I am 100% sure though, that I didn't make any changes to order settings after I pressed play. It was just click click with default settings while the game was paused at 0600.

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

<r> Well, of course changing the settings might "untie" the lock, because changing the settings causes a replan(this includes adding/detaching units), and thus changes the whole situation. That doesn't mean min aggro will cause units to freeze and do nothing for no reason.<br/>

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

<t> This has nothing to do with training, experience or anything like that. I give it an order and it freezes in column formation without doing anything. The minimum losses setting doesn't work that way, and never has. The formation clearly locks up, as is evident from the saved game, and as anyone ...

Looking at the Training, experience and Moral of 753 maybe thats having soemthing to do with it?

It's a lockup.

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

<r> Just tried Hofen with the .248 patch. Still getting formation lockups/inefficiency.<br/>

753 is ordered to probe at 0600, but never moves out. 751 and 752 also took a long time, but eventually this was solved and they shook out into assault formation:<br/>

RE: Depth and formation effects

<t> Aha. So am I correct to assume that the 'Firing'/'Target' percentages given in Annex B of the manual, are only applicable for the default formation depth - i.e. that a unit moving in line formation with widthxdepth == 1000x1000 has equal 'Firing'/'Target' percentages on the front and flanks(or ...

Depth and formation effects

<t> I was wondering how formation depth is related to formation effects(i.e. firing, target, security). For instance, what kind of protection does a unit attacking in line formation with a depth of 1000 get to its flanks? Does it get 'Min' as stated in the manual, or is this improved as the depth is ...

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

<t> I can't say I was able to follow that explanation, but, formation lockups or not, having units fighting for *four days* before becoming ineffective is FAR away from the actual reality of the game I have been playing. You only need to fire up Hofen and order the regiments to attack to see that ...

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

<t> My point wasn't in regard to fatigue and defend; when units defend they get about 50% fatigue during a day, which is fine. My point was that it seems that units increase their fatigue simply by being in a 'moving' state and not through actual movement. In the scenario I posted, the line units ...

RE: Patch #2 Fixes/Changes

Don't know what phoenix did, but it's certainly possible to execute regimental/divisional level attacks without it occurring. It seems the more complex the order is, the more likely it is to happen(i.e. not default settings, more than one waypoint, complex terrain etc.)
