Scen1 v Scen2 in 2-player

I'd like to ask what PVP players think.
Particularly in terms of 'historical' (I know that needs to be squishy for an enjoyable game) timelines, if not outcomes. Roughly, given equal players, does Scen 1 doom IJ to inevitable defeat? Does Scen 2 condemn the ally to clawing for Karachi, Pearl and ...

I'd look during July 4... I don't work for these dudes, but if you register, you get a little % more every anniversary too

Re: Ship stuck in Repair help needed

Has anyone ever thought that the game might be coded such that if any PH BB survivors are sent USWC with anything over ~20, one has just got to go down? Perhaps I imagine, but it seems its just bound to get one to cover Oklahoma. Eh?

Re: INF without engineers build/expand base?

I believe I have seen this to fort level 1 in game starts where auto upgrade is on. Specifically, US bases Palmyra Johnston - that bunch. Can't prove it (test what?). I'm not beyond being flat wrong.

Re: Bombing China

For IJ bombing in China, I think its bomb land units. bomb some more. Bomb em all. Bomb em again. Discriminately. As needed. All the time. Every day. Find more bombers.

Re: Allied Opponent Wanted

sent pm... If you're calling scen2, I'm not so sure any house rules are in order and maybe turn off surprise or bum torps. Both?... I'll play all 'standard' HR, historical start etc in a scen1. I am prepared for what IJ can do, but I'm not willing to sacrifice the next 2-3 years of my life for the ...

To address your question, my answer would be more often "No, you cannot succeed with a divided India". By far. If you can't ship, put on yer runnin shoes

Re: days per turn vs IJ 'super-planning'

Thanks to you both. My question was definitely slanted toward the effects on IJ aggression. You off-handedly hit my nail squarely in your closing PaxMondo. The best strategy, whether early game as IJ or later as Ally appears identical. The lesser IJ Deathstar early vs the greater Allied Deathstar ...

days per turn vs IJ 'super-planning'

Having recently been exposed to some pretty astounding IJ successes, I'm curious about opinions on the effect of multi-day turns on Japanese master strokes. If it's not obvious, I am referring to PvP, not AI games. Are multiday turns any restraint to IJ super-aggressiveness? Any feedback out there ...

Re: Retreat losses

Thanks GA. I know I've seen it where a unit definitely escapes in movement phase. With infantry in jungle, I recently had a Chinese escape with minimal losses having started movement at around 35 in combat mode. On a tangent, the Chinese HQ units seem very persistent. Even when taking crazy 26-1 ...

Re: Retreat losses

I did try to scan through the three pages attentively but may have missed any reference. I believe I have observed instances where combat units in combat mode but with a march destination set that have expended considerable movement points, say 35+ can escape combat near unscathed on a couple of ...

Re: When to Island Hop vs When to Fight

I'm with Ranger Joe here. The magic word is Manus. You have to do all the prep work even if you invade Rabaul, then just don't. Plunk it down at Manus. You'll have air basing within weeks, his guys are trapped, and you didn't lose the casualties. Milne or something like it on islands, is part of the ...

Re: what do you mean I'm not loading oil?

I figured it was industry related. As to why, it was just to help relieve early shortfall in Aus. I also ship from DEI and some Abadan whenever I see ongoing shortages. Little from USW, I'd never noted the LA deal before.

what do you mean I'm not loading oil?

Currently New Year's Day 1942. PvP game. Tanker docked in LA with 49k+ oil on hand. Won't load. At very beginning this was a 2-ship TF, and one loaded to less than full, but no more. So, I sent that one on its way. The remaining one has not loaded a thing since. I have swapped missions thru ...

Re: Industry

A few of things occurred to me...

What difficulty level settings? Would that have an impact?

Is all of this data coming vs AI? I didn't see any statement of a PvP.

If indeed a driving factor is # of engineers remaining at surrender or loss, why not as defender set all ENG types to 'rest'? I am ...

Re: 'pocket decoy' house rule?

Thanks for all the input! I was confident in my play anyway, but as a long-time gamer I hate the notion of my opponent thinking I'm playing under the table. If I use a Decoy, it's a DECOY; even the AI is making some value judgement as to what to pursue and with what. The only time I even consider a ...

Re: 'pocket decoy' house rule?

I don't know. I guess its most likely he thought I was using decoys, but in fact I was just trying to get out of Singapore and Palembang, but once I segregated by speed and best destination, there were several TF, and some more with attempts to get small units out of Singapore, and supply in. I told ...

'pocket decoy' house rule?

Anybody ever hear of this? Can you explain it to me? I'm beginning to think perhaps my IJ opponent is not as proficient in English as I first thought. Although we have no such house rule, he has characterized my play as a blockade of Palembang and the Molucca strait and a symptom of this house rule ...
