locks up at this stage for me too, what is the workaround you mention, clicking doesnt seem to help(only have a touchpad) and the pointer is frozen, noticed occasional slow responses from mouse earlier in the game

I was having trouble with the screen freezing and flickering and this fixed that but now it freezes a few seconds later during a research step (judging by log output) , this is on (or starting?) turn 01 Aug 1940
