Re: editing game files - logistic

The OP has a valid point, I think. Bought the game at release, and it was so "locked down" in terms of modding, or even customization, that I did not play it for long at all. Simply too difficult for an oldster like me, but would be a wonderful experience if we had some meaningful difficulty ...

Thanks for your work, OP. And it is surely not in vain. A thousand games, but this one has one of the best AI's out of the box.

Best wishes to you,

Excellent recreation of that portion of the conflict. Not sure if it's available somewhere for download as single player or hotseat, but either way, much appreciated!

Re: The Chosen, Last Supper, season #5 at the theaters

Great post. As a person who had not watched TV, movie theater or cable (USA) in the past 12 years (besides hotel visits), we should look into this series.

Best wishes to all,

Never saw that problem, even on my old weakling of a rig. Hopefully, someone will take care of you at customer support. Not sure if the support team is back from their vacation, though.

Re: Nuclear War Simulator - Dev Log #6 The Meyer Update

Serious stuff, indeed. I couldn't run it on my old rig, so will give it a try on my new system, which will certainly outlive me.

And then there is ICBM/Escalation to consider.

Anyway, God bless you all - and no nuclear wars for real, right?

It's good we are honoring his passing on this forum. Mostly I remember the wargame reviews he wrote for magazine Computer Gaming World, probably mid/late-1980s.

Thank you Erik and Ranger Joe for remembering.

Bob Russo, KIA, The Hürtgen Forest, late September 1944.
Daniel Russo, Silver Star, after returning from a suicide mission upon hearing of his brother's death.
Louis Russo, Military Policeman, and highly decorated NYPD officer.

So many stories out ...

Re: Entry level HEX-based wargame?

Hi! I'm a new guy coming into the wargames community, since I've played CMO, my interest in wargames has started to grow, I'm still playing CMO now and it's awesome! Recently, I think hex-based wargame caught my attention as well (old school style, since CMO is more of Radar style wargame), at ...

Re: Matrix Games is the new Home of Combat Mission

I tend to agree with Budd here that things will get straightened out. I have pretty much everything running on a 10-year-old PC at this time, so will be due for re-installs soon!

In my very humble opinion, this should have happened a few years earlier, except for maybe the understandable pride of ...

Thanks you guys for watching our backs on these issues.

AVAST can sometimes drive me absolutely crazy, but truth is the app has probably saved by 10-year-old dinosaur from an early extinction. God bless you all!

Re: About the possibility of open Source code

Well, God bless you and your Mama, Bob!

This game remains legendary, and I'm still trying to free up time to due it some sort of justice. And I continue to fawn over the original paper manuals from TalonSoft (once in a while). Memories are important when you get to me my age. ;)

Re: Campaign Series: Vietnam - Update v1.31.02

Yes, I do remember long ago - and maybe it's been over a year or more - the developers promising they would cover Tet in a future update. And today that update has arrived!

With very few exceptions, most of Matrix active developers continue to support their games for years on end. These efforts ...

Re: Preserving Digital Gaming History

Thanks Ryan for stepping up to the plate and doing all this for us.

Also, appreciate your warning on the large file. I'm nursing a 10-year-old Dell - they never die, in my experience - but woefully short on the graphics card and even space with two SSD's attached.

Again, thanks and best wishes ...

Re: Worth a buy?

Understandably, the SC ACW release had huge challenges in terms of balancing. But again, and as for this game, there is an editor, so single-ply joy should be relatively easy to come by.

And yet, and as always me knowing nothing, I wonder how much different this game is compared with WaW with the ...

It was one-unit-per-hex in the previous ACW title, and it "didn't feel right at all," to quote the previous poster.

Here's a link on what did "feel right" in this guy's review:
