One way of doing it would be to include a construction yard + component plants on the research station. I haven't tested it, but in theory, it should work. When I'll start a new game, I'll give it a try. You'd have access to the retrofit function when you right click the station.

This is a protest more than anything else... [8|] Death rays miss just as often as other weapons, which makes them highly inefficient due to their long recharge times. One more reason to fit other beam weapons rather than the size and energy hogging death rays.

Truth be told, I didn't actually see it happen, but I wasn't getting any "abandoned ship" pop-ups either. The repaired ships probably just hypered out to refuel immediately after being repaired... If I see anything similar in my next game, I'll post a reply.

Nothing is showing up in my resupply ship's cargo hold as well. The resupply ship's reactor uses hydrogen, the ship is deployed in a hydrogen cloud. The fleet it's supposed to refuel also uses hydrogen, I was being thorough.
