You gents ever hear of this search thingie called Google on the interwebs? You should try it.

His grandfather was a Navy fighter pilot.

The "participate in the fight" and "managed to escape" phrases of the OP implied a person ON Wake Island, not on a carrier dozens of miles away. I ...

Re: Another Sardaukar's AAR, this time v.1128Beta

Great progress! If you want to be sure of getting to the Marianas in mid 1944 you could consider letting the rest of the Marshalls and Carolines 'wither on the vine'. B-17s on Mili can reach all the bases to Roi-Namur (8 hexes) and from Wake (if you have it) they can reach Eniwetok (14 hexes). That ...

Re: Hirohito's Honor

Katori and Kashima were training cruisers and had boilers (and maybe some guns and armour) removed (perhaps because of naval treaties). That allowed accomodations for more crew/trainees.

There could have been a second battle for Wake Island if the US took it back from the Japanese before war's end.

No question that a kamikaze aircraft could mess up superstructure and equipment. Hitting the armour belt is the theme in the situation starting this thread.

AA will fire in move mode but probably with a delay to get their guns ready. Warning time would be a factor.

That first set of colourful painting of IJN ships looks like the boxtop art from Tamiya and Hasegawa ship models. All the company logos and stuff can easily be cropped off. Still a nice collection and arrangement of the art.

Hi,
I moved it in "Move" mode in the option screen (it had been pushed into the mountains East of Laog as a result of combat and I couldn't resist the urge to do something with it before it disintegrated like sone Dutch units in islands further South) & it shock attacked the empty base as I ...

Re: Kamikaze vs. Heavy Cruiser

I recall reading that not a single well-armored surface combatant (cruiser or battleship) was ever seriously endangered by a kamikaze strike. The vast majority of the ships ultimately sunk by them being destroyers and landing ships. I guess that photo shows part of the reason why. There's a lot of ...

Yes- Singapore is an island and JB is across a strait so it is reachable by large ships. BTW the limit for travel up an estuary is 15K tons displacement.

How did you "move the 2nd PA Constabulary Divn" to Laoag? Air? Sea? Somewhere else on Luzon?
A screenshot would help.

I think the best benefit of night strikes is the increase in DL that sets up a morning strike instead of searching in the AM for a strike in the afternoon.

Re: Some Air and Naval Questions

I recall Alfred posting that ships had a greater chance of gaining experience if it is moving. My observations of single hex vs hex pattern TFs bear that out. So I have all the small fry needing a lot of training doing triangular patterns with the home port as one of the patrol points (for refueling ...

Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

BB, I understand all about "height of eye" and target height above the horizon, I have spent years at sea (literally) and way too many hours staring at a PPI display. My question concerns definitive statements about the GAME that are often made with little or no sources put forth. I think we all ...

I haven't noticed any correlation between Ops losses and Defensive skill, but Experience seems to be a major factor. Experience must include knowing your airplane and what to do ...

Re: Switching Float Planes on Subs

Either Alfred or one of the Air Model programmers informed us that if there are any aircraft flying from a base (even training within the hex) there is a chance of detection of enemies out to 4 hexes.

Surface eyeball detection at sea is about 11 nautical miles in any direction (horizon, mist) so a ...

About Regiments and Divisions:
Inf. Rgts are relatively lightly armed but when 3 are combined into a Division the TOE changes and the Division gets Artillery, AA, Combat Engineers and/or Engineers and a Divisional HQ that shows up as more Support. I think there could be more Motorized Support as ...
