Re: The errors of the Barbarossa operation

With regards to the forth mistake I think that OKH were aware that German logistics were insufficient for the task. Off the top of my head I seem to remember that Paulus did a study before the invasion and discovered that they were only good for about 500 miles.

Re: What program/film/documentary are you watching now?

Battle for Moscow. A Russian made film with very authentic looking high command scenes. For me the battle scenes are tedious and rather let the film down, but I guess were necessary for commercial reasons.

Have you tried left clicking on a Romanian airbase and then shift right clicking on the target hex. If that fails you might need to adjust the group range settings.

RE: What if...

I don't swallow the line of argument that Britain could have gone to war with the US. Bad relations with Japan would be a very minor problem compared to that. In fact I can't think of any circumstance in which Britain would risk it short of massive provocation from the US itself.

RE: Perfect map scale for operational wargame

Just as an option, not to be encouraged. So the battalion is stronger when combined but has flexibilty if needed.
I also like regimental too. Again with the option to split into battalions if necessary. Battalion level support units also.

RE: Perfect map scale for operational wargame

I like battalion scale with 1 mile hexes. Battalions should have the option to break into companies if neccessary but game mechanics should slightly discourage it. Battalion level gives a few more tactical options without getting bogged down with too much LOS and ranged fire stuff.

I would like to see one extra zoom level in these games plus some unit details on the counters in the 2 most zoomed in levels.

RE: Position and release of 1 SS PzK

I wonder if the Our river has been misidentified as an XL river. I would estimate it to be a medium river in game terms. It's not very wide and even looks to be fordable in places. Maybe that has been the problem here.

Oil is not important in the game unfortunately.
Baku is a supply source so cutting rail only stops troop movements.

RE: Position and release of 1 SS PzK

I was wondering something similar about the Our river bridges near Hosingen. I believe these bridges were destroyed and weren't rebuilt until the end of the first day meaning pz Lehr couldn't participate on the 16th, causing significant delays to 57th pz corps.

the 13.Kp (heavy weapons) got a small A on the counter. However, you can look through the available smallgfx counters and change it to your liking. That's one of the features I love abut Vic's games - modding friendly.<br/>

I would like the regimental artillery to be marked as artillery on the nato counters. I've lost count of the times I've accidentally moved these units to their doom in previous titles in this series.

<t> I think at least part of the problem is the very high bar you have to cross to become a computer game designer i.e. you have to first become an expert computer programer. It's a rare person who excels at both. Ideally you would have a gifted game designer working with a team of programers, but ...

Turn 46 my supply was down to 39%, rail 59%. I haven't disbanded anything and OOB was 7.2 million men with about 8000 aircraft. Attrition was slightly higher than yours, but similar. About 18,000 a week.

The Axis position in Ukraine looks to be close to collapse. Concentrate six to eight tank armies down there and push hard. Game should be over before 1945.

Always save, never just close the game otherwise it will register as a reload.
