I noticed this as well some time ago. But considering how remote that area is from where most subs or ships operate I can see where it wouldn't be a big priority to fix.

Re: Too many allied fighter jets!

I've never considered max level fighter units in this game to be exclusively jets regardless of the art on the counter. You don't even see the word jet mentioned in the manual. It's more likely given the abstract nature of the units they are meant to represent (in the late game anyway) a large ...

I agree. An often-inscrutable sphinx of a game and the community support seems to be checked out these days.

Re: Atomic bombs

Couldn't tell you. The Japanese AI always runs up the white flag long before I get a chance to use them. My guess is that if you capture Hiroshima and Nagasaki the bombings don't occur, and they'd hardly be necessary at that point.

Re: China War too easy for Japan (and USSR too)

In general, I think it's fair to say that the Sino-Japanese war is extremely difficult to get "right" with any game engine. That is no fault of the developers, but more a function of the extreme difficulty of modeling the complicated political and economic factors of the conflict. Difficulties that ...

I moved on to AGEOD's Civil War 2 for my ACW fix. In that game not only can you enter forts but you can put more than one unit in them at a time.

Re: Attack/Defense Bonus Question

Attacking units get a 25% bonus if they haven't moved prior to the attack. Is the same bonus automatically applied to the defending unit since it hasn't moved by definition ?

It's defined as a prepared attack bonus so unmoved attackers only. If defending units got the bonus too, they'd just ...

It's good. I do wish it had air power more represented.

Pegu with the size zero port and tiny at start airfield? I'd stick with Rangoon and switch to a lower tonnage of ship.

I think I actually would have preferred the WW2 Pacific War done as it's own thing and optimised for that, rather than less than ideal compromises having to be made for both theatres.

Re: Popularity of WiE Vs WaW

World at War is the SC series game I play the least. Since I started with WiE I find the WaW map scale too confining and the Pacific aspect of the war just unconvincing. Of course, that could be due to playing too much WitPAE in the past where you get so much more detail. If you compare the WaW map ...

Re: Pacific War

I've noticed over the years in a number of board games and computer games (even including the intricate War in the Pacific: Admirals Edition) that a Midway-like disaster almost never befalls the Japanese.

Just the ability to rotate good pilots out of front-line squadrons and into training ...

I recently upgraded to Win 11. To my surprise, considering all I've read here in the past WITPAE has run flawlessly from day one, aside from some minor preferences like changing the default font and screen resolution.

This was even more of an issue for the Japanese because the pilots they started the war with were very experienced and well trained but they were never able to replace the veterans as their pilot losses piled up. It hurt them more to lose a veteran pilot as opposed to a plane.
If this is not ...

I think we all agree that if the real war was a game then the Japanese player must have been drunk on Sake or something because he did not play very well on the first turn of June 1942. A good warplayer would not have spread out his fleet like that knowing that in general it is better to ...

Indeed but the game is not capturing ammunition stocks. I assume it is abstracted in "supply". The problem is that there are plenty of "supplies" everywhere.

Definitely, WP2 will have to change this.

If it can be implemented hopefully something far simpler than the supply system found in some ...

Re: Yugoslavia 1939 ?

The main thing is that after Poland in October 1939, Germany did not had any oil reserve. Something the game is not capturing. Attacking Yugoslavia right away is, well this is a fiction game.

German ammunition stocks were depleted as well. Consumption in Poland exceeded production in ...
