RE: Riga on turn 1

Why is it important to take Riga T1? It leaves 2 Pz Divisions way out of position to start T2, and it is easy to isolate everything else west of the Dvina while just screening Riga.

RE: rout under new beta .05

One additional thing I have noticed is that units no longer always rout to towns/cities. Now they seem to rout to any type of hex. Is that new, or have I just not noticed it in earlier patches?

RE: Bugs in 1.12.05

I thought if the Soviets enter Hungary, all the Hungarians activate. There used to be a bug where a border unit would retreat into Hungary and trigger this.

Also, IIRC, you cannot start a rail line from a port -- it has to be connected to the rest of the rail net.

RE: War in the East Open Beta Update 1.12.02

Two issues with shattering --

1) It dramatically increases the number of partisans

2) Any attached SUs get nuked.

I am not sure if these results are good or bad for the game overall -- they are just different from how it has played previously.

RE: War in the East Open Beta Update 1.12.02

I am curious what happens w Leningrad. In my couple of tests, the new fort rules make taking it extremely difficult.

It is not like the old days where once isolated, everybody surrendered pretty easily.

RE: War in the East Open Beta Update 1.12.02

<t> You need to look at how many Axis units are isolated each turn -- the isolation rules have changed (perhaps unintentionally). The big new change is anyone more than 25 hexes from the RH (at the beginning of the turn, before conversion) is isolated. Units lose morale every turn when isolated, so ...

There is absolutely a 25-hex requirement, and unit also must be within 25 hexes along the lowest-MP path, not just as the crow flies. I’ve been running into this since Turn 2 in my current v1.12 beta game.
