I created a test save
the scenario is a modified "English Jets over Uganda"; with all the Migs removed to make the testing runs easier

- I created one strike mission, 4 targets. 4 bombers
- I set the doctrine to 1 aircraft per target

there is a doctrine to allow jettison of unused ordnance,
but I had never used it before, I prefer that they drop bombs :)

yes, it just happened again, in Falklands 3rd or 4th scenario (attacking the carrier 25 de Mayo)

4 Harriers with bombs in one mission, 1 airplane per flight, 2 targets (CV 25 de Mayo and FFG St Trinidad) 1st priority set to carrier, release all bombs, 2 shooters per target.

Results: all passed ...

I tested again (Tutorial 3: Complex Strike)

6 Mig-23s (2 with incendiary bombs, 2 with TV guided, 2 with general purpose bombs)
7 targets, set priorities to hangar and terminal
WRA = all bombs per target and 1x shooter (I wanted only one bomb pass... )
flight size = 2

The 1st try didn't work, they ...

The scenario was English Jets over Uganda; there was a lot of circling (the enemy Mig-21 being more maneuverable than the British Lightings), and after some time they decided to RTB, with a Mig literally at 1 nm distance, there were other aircraft that was manually re ...

Another question

if I set a Patrol (ground) and set target priority to aircraft (1st priority). would the mission attempt to strike parked (on tarmac) aircraft?

My tests are kind of inconclusive, I would say probably yes, but can be lucky hits

first of all, a correction: DO NOT clone missions, cloning missions mess flight plans (testing in latest beta)

The scenarios I have tested are with free-fall GP bombs; "Tutorial 3 - Complex Strike" as sandbox/ dry run for "tutorial - English Jets Over Uganda". Both are low level bombing ...

Is it possible to set a doctrine that danger should overrule fuel state?

I have seen that flights will RTB once bingo fuel (or whatever setting is defined), with an enemy dangerously closing or even firing.

This normally ends with an aircraft splashed, but if I catch it, I will un-assign and ...

In a land strike mission or package:
is it possible to set 4 airplanes to strike 4 individual targets in the same mission? in the same bombing pass?

I know I can create one mission + 3 clones and then set one airplane to each target, but can it be done in one mission?

Maybe it helps that the default setting; which is: "Opportunity scramble" - "Target destroyed: RTB" translates into:

Target Destroyed: Continue Mission - Opportunity scramble; which is a good setting in most situations. It is when I change

Results of my tests:

"Opportunity Scramble", "Target Destroyed - Continue Mission" and "Engage until Winchester":
Flight will strike until it runs out of ammo, it will only focus on the selected target. If target is removed (e.g.: someone else destroyed it) it will return to base

it is a fun (but difficult) scenario

long route is safe but boring, some of the ways I was able to win it :

- you don't need to rush, there is plenty of time. Stay at creep speed or even stop the oiler until the worst threats are taken care

if I try to summarize the difference of package vs mission:

in short, simple scenarios, with few bases, few units, it is kind of irrelevant to use task pools and packages, you can do the same with standard missions

60(0) is a nice production; I would advice you just turn it off but keep it

maybe you will suffer, later in the game, some terrible losses after a carrier battle and will need to quickly replace airframes; having 60 dive bombers a month can help you there

really minor issue, as xAPs are a lot more valuable than xAKs and using them to carry resource is a not a good idea
