This is the first turn of the Weakest Link scenario with historical raids plotted (actually from the following week, as few raids were made into Germany by Bomber Command during the first game week).<br/>

RE: Issues with the Air War - NF and NJ Losses

<t> 1. Night fighters could and did escort bombers, usually flying about eight miles to the side of the course of the bomber stream to catch NJ trying to join it from the sides, or patrolling above it. I've just about given up with this pig of a game but will provide a scan of some information from ...

RE: Issues with the Air War - NF and NJ Losses

<r> Sorry Helpless I'm simply not seeing anything like historical losses. Here is a typical bomber mission - 24 Mosquitos on escort, 20 shot down. This is with the beta patch, normal settings, no fog of war. <br/>

Issues with the Air War - NF and NJ Losses

<r> Several people have commented on the heavy losses Allied night fighters (NF) suffer, especially under the beta patch, so I thought I would dig out some historical information on both NF and German Nachtjagd (NJ) to compare with the game. The table below summarises the information available to me ...

RE: Friday Night Flights

The cannon pads on the Bf 109 were widely disliked by pilots as they significantly affected the aircraft's performance. Aircraft armed with them should fare badly against identical aircraft without them.

Air War Issues - Altitude Affects

<t> Save game file for the aircraft altitude issue described in the thread on the main page. Running under the 1.01.20 public beta this is the first turn of the 'Weakest Link' scenario with only two missions enabled - the main force raid is simply to try and draw up a large number of German night ...

<t> Mosquito bomber losses for September 1944 where 1xMk IV, 5x Mk XVI, and 6xMk XX for a total of 12 aircraft either failed to return or written off on landing out of 1,715 sorties, so if the losses are operational I have lost more aircraft in 200 sorties than Bomber command did for the entire ...

Air War Issues - Altitude afffects

<r> I’ve been playing around with the strategic air war, especially the night campaign as it is the one that interests me the most. There are a number of issues I have seen. The first is the loss rate for Mosquito bombers which are shot down with depressing regularity, in far, far greater numbers ...

RE: Electronic Warfare - 100 Group

<t> Does that abstraction include the see-saw nature of EW during the war? In mid 1943 the introduction of window demolished the effectiveness of the German defences, but they recovered rapidly and by early 1944 had to all intents and purposes defeated Bomber Command as the EW balance of EW was ...

RE: In side the magic box of the air system

<r> This might interest some people as well. For COBRA the USAAF had asked for a minimum of 3,000 yards between the target box and friendly troops. Bradley wanted to be closer so the heavy and medium bombers target bx was set no closer than 1450 yards, with the fighter-bombers attacing a narrow ...
