RE: Noob Guide to Defending the Realm?

<r> Oh, I just spotted the difference between STARBASE and SPACEPORT in our discussions. <br/>
<br/>
So I defer to everyone suggesting it is pointless to build spaceports over every planet - because if I understand right, if I build STARBASES over the planets, I will still get my defence ...

<t> Isn't the world heavily populated already? <br/>

No numerical evidence at my hand right now, but my impresson is that in case of smaller colonies the percentage difference is much higher, but as the colony grows, the growth percentage is decreasing. Because of this, the strategy "keep ...

RE: Noob Guide to Defending the Realm?

<t> My strategy is the following:<br/>
<br/>
1. I defend every colonized (!) star system with a small FLEET of ships. At the beginning the fleet consist 3-5 ships of the biggest one I can build - I assign more and more ships as the game grows. <br/>
The fleet homebase is the colony of the system ...

RE: Planetary shield bombardment heavy mass driver

If I saw well, in case of natural disasters, the terraforming facility eliminates any reduction IMMEDIATELY (I had one disaster hitting my homeworld, so I was very upset, but I was not far away from the research of the necessary tech...)

RE: Planetary shield bombardment heavy mass driver

<t> IMO bombardment in it's current form is completely useless and must be avoided. You just make your prize you are fighting for (the colony) completely useless if you bombard it. I would like to see the possibility to prioritize the bombardment's target (eg: population, army, infrastructure etc ...

RE: Fixed racefile for Atuuk (everyone grab)

Let me guess... are you a developer IRL ?

Cause they used to fix things which they are not sure at all if broken [;)] but always claim this could cause an issue. And when I ask (as a testlead) that what should I look for/how to test the fix, they can't come up with anything....

<t> Afaik, if u have the proper sensor on your ship, u can see how many damaged components are on the WD, and u can see it is slowly decreasing as your ship repairs it. <br/>

For me it used to take 1+ hours in real time (1x speed) until the WD is repaired... so I dare to say it is couple 10 ...

RE: Exactly what do ship roles do?

As far as I know, the roles are strictly used by the automation, if you let the AI control your ship. The AI will assign the tasks to a specific ship based on it's role.

RE: So its already September...

Well... I tend to agree with Sithuk regarding troop handling. Even just minor UI things could improve a lot the troop handling part (I raised a topic on actual bugs in the bug report forum), so land battles something which could be considered after it .
