RE: Balanced sandbox battles ??

<t> What we have done to test is we set the game so that both sides are controlled--that way we can see both sides at the start (no other forces arrive later etc.). On all of our testing, selecting the balanced button and setting up division size battes, the numbers on both sides, including ...

RE: What is the best way to use skirmishers

<t> Thanks Prester John, good answer. I still use them for short range recon--as you stated, a few musket ranges ahead. But like you mentioned, they can't go too far or they risk getting caught in the open. Continuous fire is a good way to put it. If used effectively you can completely envelop an ...

In all seriousness, historically skirmishers were mainly sent ahead of the main force for reconnaissance. In SOWL, they can be used for this but also as a way to split up your forces to fill gaps in your lines, attack a units flank, etc ...

RE: Balanced sandbox battles ??

Hmm. I know the balance option isn't always perfect due to the structure of the OOBs, but that does seem a bit too warped for comfort.

I'll bring it up with the test team, see if they can try and re-create and get it into our issue tracking system.

<t> Basically when you press the volley button, you are ordering the unit to stop firing and load for a volley. Depending on the experience of the unit, it may take a few seconds, to several seconds for them to fire. If you press the volley button again (before the unit has the chance to fire) they ...

<t> Thanks Leatherneck. I went ahead and looked at the map files, and I couldn't see anything obvious that would cause the issue. Sometimes the collision radius can be set too large what can cause that, but all of the buildings in the area are set properly. I think you're right, must have been a ...
