Re: Leader Rating Questions

I know that generally ADMIN is desireable at High Command levels, and at High Command it's less important that you have good Infantry or Armor or other tactical skills; these positions are ideal for guys like Halder or Shaposhnikov, who have high ADMIN ratings but fairly low everything else ...

Re: WDS games old JTS games

Interesting thing is what is store account? 4.00 is the base version of WDS games. I've those installs. I don't even remember what e-mail I've used last time. Now 4.04 version for clean Install, well wargaming should be tough. :D

Re: Airfield bombing just doesn't make sense

well I've used and suffered from airbase bombing in a lot of games but its never been a big issue.

so some suggestions, if you are using unavoidable airbases then make sure you move in flak. A high level HQ with suitable support units will do the trick. That flak may not kill much but will inflict ...

Re: Airfield bombing just doesn't make sense

I'm posting the losses suffered by the Luftwaffe for a 15 month period, it is the grand campaign and now it is June 1944. As you can see almost 1/5 of the losses (3200) are classified as the lost on the ground. If this is something historical, I'd appreciate a historical data so that I would be ...

Re: Disproportionate losses for LW

Hi all.

In some air battles above the Reich, the Luftwaffe just suffers very disproportionate losses, like losing 45 while destroying 0! Or 78 against just 8. Is this normal? Is there anything I can do to improve the situation?

Thanks in advance.

After the following German turn I was awarded 6 VPs for Bombing.

So, if I'm gaining the same 6 VPs per turn when NOT bombing that I get when bombing, what is the point of losing all those planes?

The VP algorithm is obviously FUBAR if its awarding VPs for bombing when no bombing is taking ...

.... But if you are using the Amphib optional rule, you can only invade with Inf and/or Mot divisions from a TRS.

Might be just as well you can't since from that box in rain it would be worse than the Dieppe raid.

naval invasion problem

Been trying to get back into WiF and getting stuck.

a big problem is the Barbarossa scenario, I don't think my Soviet deployment is that impressive and I've been tending to play that side passively but with the Germans I struggle to reach Smolensk-Kiev as an end line pretty much regardless of how ...

Re: Living Manual

The explanation is actually really simple.

We handed in about 900 pages of text (ie what is now the Living Manual) and all the images. So that would easily have generated about 1000+ pages of published manual.

The layout people managed to squeeze all that into the 520 or so pages of the published ...

Re: Trying to Wrap my Arms Around Logistics

Best way to think of it is as a system with multiple constraints. Which is the critical one shifts according to circumstances.

So in most situations, those that stem from demand and storage capacity are secondary but there are times when that side has to become your focus.

In terms of supply, the ...

Re: Trying to Wrap my Arms Around Logistics

aye, its one of those things were what actually happens is tricky.

In effect you have unlimited freight at the NSS, the amount that can be sent is constrained by distance and rail cap (so for Germany all the level 2 rail yards west of say Warsaw). This gives 000 MP that is used to push out the ...

Re: Any difference between drop down Naval and AD Naval?

its one of those parts to the air war that really is more relevant to WiTW but may have a very situational use in WiTE2.

In WiTW auto-naval is useful along the N African coast. Keep about 50% of the air assets spread out and they will put up enough low level interdiction to largely offset the low ...

AI and port building

Just to report that the AI seems to generate a lot of ports, I think I started my current game in version 1.20i and I'd guess that something like half its buildings are ports.

Wish I could help, but I do manual missions.

And, as you are considering, I seperate my recon aircraft based on type and fly each mission at camera optimum altitudes.

few obv errors though

23.8.3, vehicles. Lack is 20% for non-mot, 50% for motorised - makes quite a difference

ammunition shortage affects both mot and non-mot

fuel shortage only hits cv once its worse than 50%

also the fuel+ammo penalty for mot units is taken together and can't be worse ...

Re: Suggestions for options for single play

you really have to give the AI 'more time' in all the AGEOD games apart from Pride of Nations

I personally would push the AI ranking at least one more notch - don't make it too aggressive or it will start sending small formations deep into your territory
