Re: Runway Damage

There is no need to post a save. I tested it by eliminating the Runway Taxiway, which meant that the Runway was damaged, and the Taxiway was now none existent, and the B-52 would no longer take off. As an added note, I restarted the scenario and tried to add a B-52 to the base, and immediately ...

Re: Runway Damage

Thanks for the response.

If I am understanding this correctly, then with 69 percent damage, the runway would have 31 percent integrity. With 31 percent integrity, the runway should be able to handle a Medium Aircraft.

I was able to launch and land a very large aircraft, a B-52, so I figured that ...

Runway Damage

Is there a way to determine EXACTLY how much capacity a runway can handle if it is now listed as Reduced Capacity after it is damaged?

I have a 4000m/13k ft. Runway which received 69% damage due to a missile attack.

The Damage details indicate that it is Operational, with Reduced Capacity ...

Re: Multiple Targets-Single Attacker--Priority Order

Thanks for responding.

Yes, you can use the PRIORITY method, and that can help, for sure.

But, I was only interested in finding out the default mechanism for the method of attack if left to the game AI itself to decide.

In play testing, things never really seemed consistent. I do believe that ...

Re: Multiple Targets-Single Attacker--Priority Order

Thanks for the detailed info. You explained the portion about using enough to completely destroy before moving onto the next target.

But, I do have a follow-up question.

What if I'm not programming the WRA. What if the scenario designer programmed it, and there is really no data other than 6 ...

Multiple Targets-Single Attacker--Priority Order

If a unit has multiple missile launchers (say 8) and the scenario designer has assigned the unit to attack 6 targets, how is the order resolved if each of the targets requires (say 2-4 "harpoons") to kill it? Does it start with the target requiring the most? Does it use the geographic closeness to ...

Re: New scenario for testing: Operation Ardent Shield 2030

I've been playing your scenario. It has been fun.

If you ever update the scenario, I'd recommend the following changes:

China has 24 CH-SSC-13 Splinter missiles. They travel at 3000kts. The only SAMs that can destroy them is the Aster 30 SAAM FT/IT. You provided two of those.

You also have the ...

Re: Issue Shooting at Supersonic Targets

A work around is to place the SAM unit directly on top of the target. By doing this, all of the attacks are made in the same axis as the incoming track unless, of course, you had multiple shooters from two different locations. By placing the SAM on top of the target, it works almost every time.

Re: Issue Shooting at Supersonic Targets

Thanks for the feedback.

Just to be clear, this wasn't an ABM issue. These were supersonic missiles (traveling at 3000kt) and coming in straight, but they were relatively level and at about 5000 feet. The problem was not what the SAMs were shooting at. It's true they were fast, but the problem was ...

Re: Issue Shooting at Supersonic Targets

One of the issues that I see with this is the fact that a missed SAM shot (which never engaged) continues to fly beyond the target missiles, and this continued existence of the SAMs restricts the SAM launcher from firing any more weapons until the original group of SAMs has run out of fuel.

I ...

Issue Shooting at Supersonic Targets

I have two units with Aster 30 SAAM FR/IT, slightly off-center, protecting a hanger, and shooting at CH-SSC-13 Splinter CJ-100.

If the SAMs are lined up perfectly with the target (in other words the incoming missiles are heading for the target and the SAM is directly in line) then everything works ...

Re: Refueling Query

I've played around a lot with refueling, and it can be maddening.

As you said, for the most part it works fine.

From my experience, when it experiences some difficulty is when what you discussed occurs. Whether you create a flight path or not, a flight path still exists for the planes in question ...

Re: Drones, and their usage on destroyers and frigates

Since many of these drones are small, and stored in trunks, and can be put together while on-board a ship, how many would a ship usually have (if any)?

Or, are drones something of a specialty item (like lasers) that are only issued to a handful of ships on a very limited basis?

It seems that, if ...

Re: Drones, and their usage on destroyers and frigates

Thanks to everyone for the information.

I guess that the question that I was sort of asking is, do ALL ships now use these small V-Bat-type of systems? They seem to be real small, not expensive, and can operate right off of the fantail of a ship. The larger ones, which are similar to unmanned ...

Drones, and their usage on destroyers and frigates

I keep hearing about drones being flown from smaller ships, like destroyers and frigates. Obviously, these aren't Reaper-sized drones, so I figure that they are like 100-pound drones that are probably used for surveillance.

Are any of these included in any scenarios?

Do they just land on a ...

What I would like to know is what exactly is considered to be a legitimate pass ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

Thats why the ASBMs are at their peak as a first strike weapon.

I understand that, but I was basically talking about were smaller TFs, like the ones in the video. Certainly, the Chinese (for example) wouldn't be using ASBMs on a small TF consisting of just two destroyers and two frigates, right ...

In the link to the YouTube video that you sent, Task Force 173 is sailing to Taiwan. According to the screen provided by the CMO game, TF 173 is being trailed by several intelligence ships, and some Chinese Coast Guard units. There is no air cover. It's quite obvious that they can be visually ...

Re: A Unit's Location and Whereabouts/Satellites

You have an interesting point about using other surface vessels in a similar manner though. Reminds me of radar picket destroyers off Okinawa in 1945.

The use of picket ships was also frequently used in those Cold War scenarios designed for Harpoon , and other similar games. In that era, it was ...
