Re: EXP loss by exchanging elements

Ignore my previous posts - I was reading the TOE screen backwards and thinking that the list on the right was the 'target' TOE.

I see what you mean now - seems strange that those units don't hold onto their 43 squads.

Re: EXP loss by exchanging elements

In your two examples the unit changes from the 43 Guards Corps TOE (which has a mixture of 43 rifle squads and Rifle Squad + elements and 162 SMG elements) to the 44 Guards Corps TOE (which only has Rifle Squad + elements and 486 SMG elements).

As a result of the TOE change they send their 43 ...

Re: EXP loss by exchanging elements

The Soviet example the unit elements pretty much stay the same (hence no xp loss) but it changes to a new smaller TOE (which makes the % go up) and gains CPP. It's just really unusual in those early turns to have a Soviet unit at 54 morale, high toe and pretty much full CPP which is why the CV looks ...

@tyronec Is it maybe because in the second example they have to fly to the staging base?

Really enjoyed that - very impressive writing!

Good to see an AAR from one of the later campaign dates as well.

Re: Leader Rolls and Halted Attacks

What do the artillery combat results look like in those examples? Are there noticeable differences in artillery performance between the halt attacks and the successful ones?

Three potential 'models' of how these halt decisions are made.

1) The decision is made using the 'raw' starting CV (perhaps ...

Re: Leader Rolls and Halted Attacks

In terms of my understanding of halt attacks. We know that there is the fact d initial CV - this is not affected by leader rolls (if you don't count the commitment of reserve units). We know that the final CV is affected by leader rolls as you describe. My understanding is that these rolls take ...

Re: Leader Rolls and Halted Attacks

I guessed 70% - close but no cigar!

I'd normally predict that CV ratio as being a 100% Axis win but I think that low CPP units perform worse in combat which is why in this situation I was predicting that the combat would be less one-sided and the leader rolls would become more significant.

Re: MP's a division spends in a ZOC to ZOC move are not in line with what is stated in the manual

This basically nullifies the effect of poor roads in every scenario except when a division is moving into clear terrain or woods (in addition to the special rules for swamps and heavy woods).

The roads start making much more difference with poor weather and especially with heavy rain. Hexes with ...

Re: MP's a division spends in a ZOC to ZOC move are not in line with what is stated in the manual

Hello, I noticed some weird things when looking at MP expenditure of units making a ZOC to ZOC move, so I asked about this in the kulik discord which lead to me and Wiedrock investigating this a little bit and we found some confusing things.

I think this is the manual not being as clear as it ...

Re: Maintaining Offensive Momentum

If you are out of CPP as Germans and Soviets are out of CPPs why rest to get CPPs? Keep on attacking as Germany you have the advantage:-)

If we are just talking about CPPs then the answer to this is that CPPs only multiply the offensive CV and not the defensive CV. So ignoring all other factors ...

Re: Perpetual Desolation - HLYA (German) vs a Soviet Player

Turn 5

How long should one have to take turns before it is considered a forfeited game? Post in the AAR please.

I think a lot of the old Wite1 aars had a 30 day forfeit HR.

It's about communication though really isn't it. Obviously sometimes RL gets in the way of sending turns back quickly ...

How do you have your ground support allocated? On the face of it it seems like you might be better off committing twice as many planes to half as many battles. For me fighting the LW at 1:1 odds is just going to give their pilots free XP?

Re: Who ruined this game so much?

Like Wiedrock said - armored divisions that have not already changed to brigades because of destruction/depletion will change on T32 (25/01/42). So if you are in December you should see that happen pretty soon.

Re: Exploit or no. You decide

I vote no exploit.

WITE1s air war was IGOUGO within the the ground phase. So it was possible to spam missions until you could tell that the opposition was out of fuel/ammo and then cause lots of damage.

I'm not really sure what the difference is between setting up a mission like this one and a bog ...
