I think a lot of the old Wite1 aars had a 30 day forfeit HR.

It's about communication though really isn't it. Obviously sometimes RL gets in the way of sending turns back quickly ...

Like Wiedrock said - armored divisions that have not already changed to brigades because of destruction/depletion will change on T32 (25/01/42). So if you are in December you should see that happen pretty soon.

WITE1s air war was IGOUGO within the the ground phase. So it was possible to spam missions until you could tell that the opposition was out of fuel/ammo and then cause lots of damage.

I'm not really sure what the difference is between setting up a mission like this one and a bog ...

To return to the O/P - the AI leaves a little to be desired, especially in terms of it playing the Axis in 41. One issue, which I think is what you are seeing, is the AI is very reluctant to move its planes forwards into marginal supply situations. So it will wait a long time for the logistics ...
