RE: Standing Forces Scenario Template

Nice! Thanks. As up-to-date as possible for what I want to make. It looks like the download links in that thread have since expired.

RE: China Invasion of Taiwan 2023

Any war with China over Taiwan would not be over in a single campaign. China would produce arms in growing numbers and win over time. Not even a long time if the Americans aren't 100% in. You could simulate a single operation and see how many losses NATO takes in the first clash.

Standing Forces Scenario Template

I'm looking for a scenario template that has the available information from the web (wikipedia etc.) on standing armed forces already placed for a given nation.

It would save a lot of time for making larger scenarios as well as smaller ones (just delete what you don't want.)

"Sea of Fire" is not an exact representation of the Coventry attack. For example in the scenario the Coventry's SAM launcher never malfunctions, and the Type 22 frigate is not mask-blocked from the Coventry so it has a clear shot with her ...

RE: 50m minimum alt over sea

<t> Any idea why they got through so easily historically? Were the ships not on alert or something? The sim shows the ships quite capable of defending themselves, even with the AI handling them. The other thing I thought of was that maybe they were much closer to shore and so had significantly less ...

RE: 50m minimum alt over sea

<t> Very cool. I was playing the "Sea of Fire" scenario and remember hearing from documentaries (which may not be reliable) that the A-4's came in right over the waves, but I think they are limited to 50m in the sim. I lost all of them and wondered if I couldn't get historical results in the ...

50m minimum alt over sea

Does this hard coded limitation on aircraft affect anything realism wise? (e.g., is it harder in the sim to avoid incoming missiles because you can't get below 50m?) Also do missiles (like cruise missiles) go down to 10m?

Do they disturb the water in a way detectable by IR while at depth? If so, how?

RE: Air assault on protected convoy

<t> Giving it up. I can't find a way to attack this convoy without losing aircraft. I tried a very low attack from max range with the Hind's to take out the SAM sites, and it looks like this would work but the teleporting SAMs can't be hit by missiles. I think the scenario is either unbeatable or ...

RE: What's an attack sub any good for?

I think I'd take 140 Mig-29's even. :) I get what you're saying though. Something about the way T-34's worked in WW2 impressed upon me the importance of numbers over quality. The other thing I think highly of are dummy attacks and flooding an area with targets. (Drones, etc.)

RE: Fueling at base - 2 hours?

Ok fair enough. I read some of the article, it was good. I guess we can always use tankers if we want to keep a plane fueled more quickly.
