I remember an anecdote on Iraqi gunnery from the Battle of Khafji where a brigade-strength unit, approximately a battalion at the front, had made it within a few hundred meters (One hex!) of DHQ 1st Marine Div... and hit nothing, accomplished almost nothing, being beaten back by a platoon of LAVs ...

It won't, so long as Ukraine can fight the Russians off by herself, which is why supporting them is still important.

Let's not forget the political turmoil in the warsaw pact countries at the time. Hard to see them going along with an all out war in 1989, particularly the East Germans who were but months from reunification with their brothers.

For the editor, I'd like the option of force-specific VPs that only they can achieve for a given faction. Gives a bit for freedom in scenario design and intentions that way.

The biggest arty threat comes from 2S3s that show up later. This would be where having preserved your cavalry force from earlier scenarios would be most helpful... hope you did so! :twisted:

As long as they are in screen they'll automatically move around. If they're set to Hold then that's when they sit still and start eating arty strikes.

Be careful manually moving them constantly - the movement will hit their readiness, which lengthens the command cycle as far as I know. Generally I just set my HQ to screen with default SOP settings and they'll regularly relocate themselves.

Don't try to hold the VP locations. This goes for every scenario as the defender.
A VP location that you already hold has no value as a defensive point.
But it does mean the enemy HAS to take that point. With me so far?

That is normal. Units will space themselves put to avoid traffic jams or stacking up for enemy artillery to hit them. If you want them to wnd up on the same hex then you can adjust their waypoints after giving the group order.

Looking back at this scenario, the Soviet companies are mounted in BTR-60PB. Infantry are carrying RPK-74s and RPG-22s - I believe this is a mistake from me, BTR-mounted infantry carried RPG-7s as standard. With them are AT-7s, NSV HMGs which is standard for BTR companies, and AGS-17s.

I've found infantry to be incredibly vulnerable myself. AGS-17s and HMG teams, plus the BTR's own 14.5mms chew through them like no tomorrow. When you set carriers to hide nearby the result is that you preserve the carriers... but then you'll just have empty carriers.
