Re: Russians in Ukraine

I'VE COME BACK TO THIS FORUM AFTER SOME TIME AND WAS ASTONISHED TO FIND THIS THREAD. FRANKLY I CANT SEE ANY BENEFIT AT ALL IN HAVING THIS THREAD ON A GAME FORUM SITE -- IT COULD ONLY HAVE RESULTED IN A FORUM FOR A TORRENT OF RABID RUSSIAN ZOMBIE SLAVES TO PUSH A PRO KREMLIN NARRATIVE. PEPPERED WITH ...

Re: Getting Units to Fall Back.

Well do you want to "cheat ?", the game designers have chosen to add a orders delay for many good reasons, they are experienced gamer designers and some have a "military" background, that's what makes this game so good, orders delay forces you to think ahead, make plans, keep a reserve with a good ...

British OB amendments - Questions

<t> I am currently in the process of revising the OB for British Mechanised Infantry Battalions and Armoured Regiments .<br/>
Amongst the objectives to delete the erroneous 2inch Artillery platoons, and divide the company Milan Posts amongst the fighting platoons .<br/>
Spreading the 2inch mortars ...

RE: SS -Facing

<t> Thanks to Capn Darwin for his prompt response and explanation .<br/>
Jeff<br/>
What I was meaning in respect of “facing” was the units direction of attack/advance ,it’s focus of attention or orientation in terms where it expects to engage the enemy or be engaged from, or coverage of killing ...

SS -Facing

<t> Facing <br/>
Curiosity – how is the southern storm game engine going to deal with unit facing ? <br/>
At the moment how FPRS deals with unit facing is, I think, limited. For example how a unit in a town hex of 500m can fire throughout its 360 degree arc , firing in one direction one moment and ...

RE: Rapier a bit blunt?

<t> Can't say there is any real life evidence as to the effectiveness of tracked Rapier, but the ground Post Rapiers sent to the Falklands were woeful in perfrmance, being bashed about at sea for 6 weeks don't do electronics much good, equipped with a second rate sighting system, impact fuse only ...

RE: Flashpoint Newbie

I think it's the percentage chance a target will be seen in that particular hex from the selected hex. I'm not sure if it is a basic chance subject to adjustments due to the observers optical devices and/or the targets size or type (foot or vehicle).

RE: MI 24'S equipped with MISS iles

<t> <br/>
Re reading the whole article essentially there was zero evidence that a Mi24 shotdown a Iranian F4. The tests carried out on the AT 6 Spiral would suggest that they are not good at hitting moving helicopters if they can't hit something moving at no more than 15kph more than 4% of the time ...

<t> Alternately keep changing the air units to resupply mode , that should stop air attacks until you have knocked back enemy air defences. This way you can continue use FSCC functions. <t> Like many others I have my credit card to hand to buy SS on it's release.<br/>

Will British Forces feature in SS scenario's, I ask as the current OB for British Units has some minor errors.<br/>
1.2inch mortars should not be grouped together as a quasi artillery unit, they ...

Does the current game or the new southern storm game model the M712 Copperhead round ? From what I've read it would be a significant force multiplier for NATO artillery.

<t> Well fortunately there isn't really any real world evidence of how HIND would have performed in a battle against a first class opponent, what we do know is that in Afghanistan the Mujaheddin feared them until they acquired CIA supplied MANPADS which effectively neutralised them. <br/>

RE: Cobra not firing back v Hind

<t> Perhaps this has more to do with the AI deciding that the AH1 has more chance to get a kill on the ground target than the Hinds, I've seen this where Tank units fire at MRC targets that are further away than the T80U unit right in front of them. I don't think the AI deals very well the concept ...
