Re: WAW vs WIE

I prefer WIE over WAW for the following reasons, which may or may not apply due to individual preferences.
1. WIE does a great job in the simulation of Blitzkrieg. The changes in the hex size and the date methodology make WAW Barbarossa into a slog.
2. While the naval rules in WIE are "OK" for the ...

Re: French units becoming UK when on Transports

As we know, some French units defected to the UK when France surrendered. This could be a feature rather than a bug?

Re: Best 1939 scenerio?

All the mods are good, but all the mods are more complicated. I enjoy the basic games as the most balanced as it has had a huge effort over i think 30+ upgrades to improve playability and game balance.

Re: Defense of the USSR

There are several important aspects of SC WiE that any defender must learn and practice:
1. Economy of force. Your opponent can't be everywhere (until late game) so screen where he is not.
2. Keep your units in supply. They defend better and return quicker and cheaper.
3. Utilize your HQS. Put ...

Question on Case Blue Allied set up at Leningrad?

The Axis can take Leningrad with the forces present. It will be a slog, but doable. Also, the southern port can be attacked by the Axis with relative impunity and high effectiveness. These seem ahistorical. I understand the Russians grounded the BB and it made a very tough and effective fire support ...

Re: Allied or Axis Not an Expert, barely Medium

I am very sorry I missed your reply. I was checking my old emails and saw your reply. I went on a four-month camping trip in my 9-meter class A RV and I completely forgot. I am playing in the annual SC WiE tournament. I didn't see you playing there. If you are still interested I might be able to ...

Re: Official Strategic Command Tournaments and other comments

As a player since the start, a manager of early ELO SC WiE tournaments, and a player in all 3 WiE tournaments, I would like to make the following observations/suggestions:

1. WiE is an outstanding "Game" not a simulation but a "Game." ELO results show that both sides can win the 1939 scenario.

2 ...

Re: Suggestions for next patch/update and other comments

One of the best things about the SC series is the user support on these forums. The best thing is the support by Hubert and Bill. They deserve a round of applause. HERE HERE!!!

Here are some of my suggestions:
1. A system that makes multiplayer games easy. (i.e. more than one person per side.) You ...

Re: First Campaign Advice

Excellent advice.
I would recommend reading on the forum After Action Reports and The War Room.

Also look for "The Sugar War Machine."

I have some old help files if you are interested.

Lastly one of the best ways to learn is playing Mirror games.

Re: Reloads

Generally, if a player reloads too often they get a warning from Matrix. Not sure of the specifics.

Also, Matrix is working on "Autosave" so, as I understand it, when a player loses their game due to comms (or other issue) when they reload it will be the most current play rather than back to the ...

Re: European vs Pacific Theaters

The scale in SC WiE is much more conducive to the fluid nature of the Russian front. Thus I prefer it. I wish Matrix had produced SC WaW in its current scale leaving out WiE and having links to it. So two separate games are played together to make one big game.

Couple of questions?
1. What is the status of Finland diplomacy?
2. How goes the war in north Africa?
3. Have you lost any bits?
4. Has Germany lost any units?
5. Did ger go after Malta?
6. When did France surrender?

In the SC WiE tournament which ends Nov 30th. I might be available then as others in the tournament. Look at who is playing. Some have dropped out and might be available now.
