Re: War in the Pacific 2

All that was needed, IMO, is for WITP 2 to bring it onto a modern basis in terms of code and UI, first of all. This is probably much easier said than actually done, TBH. Then improve the game information conveyed to the player with additional reports and statistics screens. I'm roughly thinking of ...

Re: BB Texas

For the folks who are not too familiar with Texas illustrious history of now over 100 years, like I was, let me link the Wikipedia article. It is a worthwhilre read indeed:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Texas_(BB-35)

I gleaned that she was in pretty good condition at the end of WW2 as she ...

Re: Unofficial patch

Really just asking whether we should expect an "official/final" version of this unofficial patch at some point? Is there perhaps some indicative ETA for it? What's the plan here, please?

Cheers and thanks!

Re: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE

It is a slip-up. The instructions for the disbandment of the 24th Pursuit Group HQ squadron from several cells above probably got accidentally duplicated into that box. Marching the unit to Bataan instead is just fine. Hey, on a spreadsheet that voluminous something will always go amiss. :mrgreen ...

Re: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE

Thanks for the instructive ideas. So I keep plodding along with getting orders out. Did not manage to review all 4600 units - or lost patience rather after 10 days - before running my first turn (turn 2) as Allies. Result was not too terrible - I think. I already learned some things I want to ...

Re: Confused Noob: Variants and updates

Alright, things move quickly...

Same day, only a few hours after my and Sardaukar's above post, michaelm75au released a new version of the 11.27 patch which apparently fixes the CAP bug. I have not tested it myself though, just wanted to put the alert here.

Re: Best protection for transports

There is also the option of making a "Escort" TF (and not a ASW or SCTF) with say a DD/CL and some ASW, and let it follow the Cargo/Transport TF with zero distance - or vice versa make the CTF follow the Escort TF.

Not sure if the Escort mission provides any better protection for a Cargo TF than ...

Re: Confused Noob: Variants and updates

It has been reported that the newest "unofficial" patch 11.27 possibly has a bug with air CAP missions. There is a thread about it:

https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=10683&t=386537

This air mission type is rather important, in my opinion. I actually think it is more relevant than ...

Re: Scen 19 Battle of Burma - Updated

Hi Andy

thanks for this update which I found only today. I played the 2012 version of it once as Allies vs. computer Japan and I managed to win it - somehow, as I was pretty much clueless as what I should be doing (noob).

I could hold on to Moulmein and, to generate some counter attack, moved a ...

Re: Allies Set-up Spreadsheet for AE

The spreadsheet is invaluable for making a start with this behemoth! It's all easy enough to set-up but I do have a question:

Are Cargo TF's supposed to be set up as being "CS" or "Human Control"?

I have so far not seen the notion in the Excel that I should make them "CS". So I left them all at ...

Could you guys help me here please...

Currently, I have replaced all the game's stock scenarios and campaigns with Andy Mac's "old" updates from 2012, including Scen 1 (Full Campaign). Now, we have the "new" updates from this thread, specifically the Scen 1 v12.

So I want to play Scen 1 Full ...

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!

Which Ship does and doesn't get I-Protection varies. Like a lot.

But generally, larger hulls have less to no issues with that. So if you are still on small freighters, consider just upgrading them to a bigger size.

I checked it earlier in-game. Small Freighters actually have Ion Shield and ...
