RE: World in Flames CE vs MWiF

<t> Thank you for the quick answer! I’ll just see the differences between 7th and 8th, so i wont get too weirded out by them!<br/>
<br/>
This is something I’ve been thinking about a lot since most of the computer wargames hide the dice rolls and dont really show the mechanics behind the ...

World in Flames CE vs MWiF

<t> Hey guys! <br/>
I just managed to acquire the latest deluxe board game for solo play and thought that the sale price right now was way too good to pass up. <br/>
<br/>
Just a newb question that might be clear for many but couldnt find an answer to. <br/>
<br/>
How different is the Matrix ...

RE: A Wargamers Needful Thiings book review thread

<r> Picked An Army at Dawn up from Google Books (the whole trilogy is there at about 12 euros apiece). It seems very, very good. Well written, even as a non native speaker it's a doozy to read. Thanks for the tip! I've always been not that fond of the US forces in games, as I know so little of them ...

Couple of questions before committing..

<r> Hiyall. <br/>
<br/>
I'm torn. After learning and enjoying Grigsby's ops a LOT, I'd like a more tactical turn based experience.<br/>
<br/>
I see Tigers on the Hunt being an awesome labour of love and a constantly evolving game. Really could just buy it.<br/>
BUT<br/>
Is it more a board game ...

RE: Game Manuals

<t> Usually the manuals can be found in the game directory in pdf-form. I use an android tablet so I just push them to my google drive and tell my tablet to open them in adobe acrobat. If you use an iPad, you have iBooks on it. Just open the file in an app and tell it to use iBooks. (or was it send ...

RE: Which of these two games?

As WitE let's you decide how detailed you want your turns to be, I'd say that's better for AI/solo game. Strategic Command seems more suited for PBEM/against a friend.

Haven't really tried SC yet, basing my thoughts on Youtube on that one.

RE: Speculative exchange rates ?

Yeah. I think my WitP:AE was 38,XX EUR when using Paypal as exchanger. That's a couple of euros lower than the "official" rate (40,99 eur). If I buy multiple units of anything, it's worth it, at least for now, on Paypal.

RE: WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<t> Chemkid's map mods for WitP:AE is one of the reasons I picked it up in this case. Just amazing work. Installed the rainy day -one for WitE too.<br/>
<br/>
In WitP:AE I use the Topo map mod as it's a bit more "realistic" looking than the others. But it really makes a difference on clarity and ...

RE: Speculative exchange rates ?

Oh, thanks! That's the kind of answer I appreciate. So the money exchange is an independent company, who converts the prices. Now I see.

Wouldn't expect any other answer from you guys! :)

RE: Speculative exchange rates ?

I was wondering about the same thing.

Could someone really explain what's going on? I know this seems to be he case all over the place (euro is usd or more even..), but a bit of an explanation would ease the minds of the peeps.

RE: WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<r> Actually, for now I bought WitPAE. And based on my short tutorial play, it's a very good game. It is also very, very different from WitE. <br/>
The hex sizes, which I was concerned about, doesn't really compare in the two, as in WitPAE the player plans operations to and from points on the map ...

RE: WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<t> Wodin! Thanks for the short insight on Schwerpunkt. I thought as much. It seems there are games made for playing and games made for designing scenarios, and in that sense it seems Schwerpunkt is made more as a basis for small scenarios made by enthusiasts. Leader features and such gamey stuff is ...

RE: WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<r> Again, thanks for the answers!<br/>
<br/>
Alfred's points are very good. After WitE (which I'm still totally happy about, so I'm not that interested in DC Barbarossa as of now, but thanks wodin!) I was originally thinking of WitP:AE. The naval aspect, although pretty unknown to me IRL, is ...

RE: WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<r> Wow. Thanks for The replies! <br/>
<br/>
I might get WitW+torch, as many suggested. As I'm first and foremost a gamer, not a designer, I think Grigsbys games offer me most engaging scenarios and accuracy. Schwerpunkt's game look great but compared to this community here, they lose big time (as ...

WitW, WitPAE or Schwerpunkt WW2

<r> Hi!<br/>
<br/>
I've found my love for wargaming again and got WitE and Campaign series ME. WitE really is something I enjoy. I like the possibility to delve deep into the details, and don't mind spending hours/days on one turn.<br/>
<br/>
But now it occurred to me that I'd like to play on ...
