Re: New player contemplating game balance

The AI is weak. Against a human opponent who is at your skill level, I think you'll find the game favors the Allies. The Axis is on a timetable that is not very flexible: Fall 1939 Poland, Spring 1940 France, Fall 1940 Afrika Korps using most of your mpp's to bring up to strength, whether you use ...

Unrealistic strait in Denmark

I realize that designers may have put the strait existing in Denmark to represent the Kiel canal and allow the Axis to move freely from the North Sea to the Baltic, but it becomes an unrealistic advantage for the Allies. All they have to do is land any unit in the hex and they have instant and ...

Re: Yugoslavia coup

(Actually I thought this post was still showing near the top when I looked earlier today, as I was thinking of a reply.)

Some players, myself included, allow the coup to happen so that the Axis doesn't have to declare war. Yugo is easy enough to beat one turn later. USSR gets a mobilisation bump ...

Re: Yugoslavia coup

What's up with this forum? I posted this just a couple days ago and it disappeared, not showing up in the 1st page. I had to search for it, even though it is a new post.

Yugoslavia coup

Most Axis players invade Yugoslavia as soon as possible because they know a coup is coming. This is Hitler anticipating a coup that was only executed because Hitler forced the pact on the King and only happened days after the announcement. The variable of when the coup happens only further ...

Re: Penalty for Axis advance in Egypt

I try to time reaching Cairo with the fall of 1941, when it no longer matters, and instead focus on destroying units before the final push. Obviously, if the Axis is going to take it a lot sooner, they'll just have to deal with an early "Pearl Harbor" and push up the Japanese timetable.

Re: New player contemplating game balance

Welcome.

Be aware that the AI is fairly weak, as in most computer games, so at normal settings it is pretty predictable and prone to making bad decisions. A game against a fairly experienced player will give you a challenge, and you'll find that the advantage is not on the Axis side. The Axis is on ...

Using neutral British navy to scout and block

CP opted for an "East First" policy and did not invade Belgium. Britain is neutral initially, but the Entente is using British ships in the Adriatic to scout Austrian ships and shield French ships from attack. There should be some penalty for doing this. No neutral nation is going to actively ...

No go zones and exclamation points

I no longer see Allied ship and transport zones in the Med, nor to I see the "!" for maintaining garrisons in Poland and Manchuria. What happened?

Re: Swapping ships triggers a crash

On Monday, October 27th, a patch for ACW was released, which apparently fixed the problem. However, I can’t find anything about it in the patch notes.
In addition, the free campaign “1894 Imperial Twilight” has already been released — thanks for that! ;)
Now it seems that only the ...

Re: Swapping ships triggers a crash

Well I guess it didn't fix the problem, because swapping ships still caused the game to crash.

In which game is this, and via which platform have you updated the game, i.e. is it via Steam that you're playing it, or from elsewhere?

SC: ACW. I updated from the website. Playing it via PBEM ...

Games still randomly crashing when swapping ships in SC: ACW. Hasn't happened in a while in World at War, since the corrective update.

Re: Swapping ships triggers a crash

If you are fixing that perhaps you should put in swapping with air units to another air unit. I know air units and land units is used strategically but air units should be able to switch between themselves.

I was told that if one of the air units conducted actions, they can't swap. Don't know ...

Just had this happen in American Civil War, so it seems to be an issue across the patches that recently came out.

Re: Swapping ships triggers a crash

This happened again in another game against another opponent, different scenario. I try to have two ships next to each other swap positions, and the game crashes.
