RE: Distant Worlds 2 - Dev Diary #6

Those map modes are amazing and I love the amount of diplomatic options you have! URGE TO PLAY RISING!

Edit: As someone else state the diplomatic map mode does need to be brighter to contrast better with space though.

RE: Can we talk a bit about diplomacy now?

Agreed, as much as I'd love MP we really only have confirmation that the engine is capable of supporting MP and that it would be possible to implement it at a later date.

RE: Can we talk a bit about diplomacy now?

I hope we get multiplayer somewhere down the track, agreeing to arbitrary borders amongst friends then breaking the agreements and going to war anyway is always fun.

I like the idea of having scout ships do the initial first sweep of a system then having survey ships do the in depths scans, the change allows for a little more strategy when it comes to scout designs IMO.<br/>

RE: Can we talk a bit about diplomacy now?

<t> The more granular and in depth the diplomacy the better IMO. I take great delight in simply watching the universe tick over in Distant Worlds. <br/>

My favourite playstyle was as a smuggler in DW1 which didn't really involve much conquest (for me at least) except for the acquisition of ...

RE: Distant Worlds 2 - Dev Diary #4

This is fantastic, when stellaris first came out before they made it hyperlane only, the lack of stellar "geography" was a big sticking point for me. Travel is Distant Worlds 1 even felt a bit to quick for me so this is a welcome addition in my book!

RE: Cen we get tech tree like in Wolcen ?

<r> In Distant Worlds 1 you could lower the research speed to the point where choosing your research became a choice that could represent a decade or more worth of research and therefore time investment. I like huge galaxies and i felt in DW1 that you got warp tech that allowed you to traverse the ...

Ship Death Animation or lack thereof

<r> After re-watching the battle scene a few times and watching Das's breakdown on the battle scene that was released a couple of months ago, it dawned on me the that the ships don't have a death animation, they just pop out of existence upon death. <br/>

<t> The font in your UI concept is certainly easier to read at a glance, with some embellishment your UI would be spot on IMO<br/>

RE: Distant Worlds 2 Christmas Sneak Peek!

<t> I personally find Stellaris severely lacking in scale, space isn't vast and you end up surrounded by empires withing your first 10-30 years of gameplay! In comparison, in a prewarp start in DW:U you can go 10-50 years (I lower the warp speed to flesh things out) without meeting a single empire ...

RE: Is it me or is a pirate playthrough very buggy and unplayable?

<r> Sorry for the late reply, I simply don't have the stamina to manage an "empire" that big, I much prefer to act as a shadow power, infiltrating and corrupting other empires administrations and leaching their profits, after all why spend your own resources when the AI will do it for you (something ...

RE: Is it me or is a pirate playthrough very buggy and unplayable?

<t> I find the bug where your own troops attack your pirate facilities if you try and support them almost game breaking. Sadly you really cant parasite off an empire when you cant defend your pirate installations on planets. Other than that though pirate gameplay is my absolute favourite!<br/>

RE: DW2 Mod list

If the hyperdrives feel to fast ill be making them slower to make space feel vaster.
