Spratly Spat 2016

Situation

An alliance of South-East Asian states challenges China’s control of the Spratly Islands, with limited support from the United States. In 2016, China’s development of the archipelago was less advanced than it is now and the air bases (apart from Woody Island in the Paracels) are not yet ...

Re: 1676 General Doctrine Settings not Retained

The problem doesn't happen with units that are set to Missions (pre-defined or otherwise), nor does it affect ships.

To re-produce it, select an aircraft that isn't on a Mission (and hasn't taken-off yet in the scenario) and (say) alter its Doctrine to NOT Auto Evade, Never Re-Fuel and have a ...

Northern Fury 31 - Shield of Faith 10/3/94

Situation

This one is only playable as NATO. In the face of the renewed Soviet offensive in Norway, the West strives to reinforce the South of the country by sea and air.

While Copenhagen has fallen and the Russians have reached the North Sea at Esbjerg, Danish forces are still holding-on in ...

Re: 1676 General Doctrine Settings not Retained

I'm encountering this problem again in Northern Fury 31. I note that it only affects aircraft, not ships.

Re: Sahel Slugfest 20/2/21

Lots of things are quite effective against older SAMs, to be honest. The Guidelines weren't really a problem at any stage.

Re: 1676 Unable to adjust altitude

To clarify, I don't ever use Flight Plans. Not sure what you mean about the wingman issue - perhaps this relates to another bug report.

I'll wait to see what happens once you've seen the .save file.

Re: 1676 General Doctrine Settings not Retained

Most, if not all of the aircraft had pre-set Missions specified by the scenario designer. I removed all of these Missions and set my own Doctrine. This then reverted to the standard game defaults for the General tab only.

It occurred to me that deleting the pre-set Missions might have been the ...

1676 Unable to adjust altitude

During a game of Sahel Slugfest, at around 17:00Z on 20/2/21, a group of French Rafales mounted an airstrike on the Sudanese army units on the border. For some reason, one Rafale came-in at low altitude and could only be persuaded to climb (to an altitude where it could attack with its SBU-54 ...

1676 General Doctrine Settings not Retained

Before playing Sahel Slugfest, I set Doctrine for the French/Chadian aircraft. During the game, I found that my settings on the General tab of the Doctrines window (notably for AutoEvade, Refuelling, Ignore Plotted Course and Weapon State) had reverted to the default values. My settings on the EMCON ...

Sahel Slugfest 20/2/21

The premise for this one is simple enough. China wants the mineral resources of the Sahel and provides backing for a new regime in Sudan, building-up a strong military expeditionary force there. This alarms neighbouring Chad, which calls-in former colonial power France. Matters come to a head as ...

Done. It's actually 1676 and installing it was a nightmare, but I got there in the end.

Re: Community Scenario Pack (Updated August 22, 2025)

It's OK, I managed to find the right location:

C:/Program Files/Matrix Games/Command Modern Operations/Scenarios

My usual inability to guess and tendency to look in every place but the right one, I'm afraid. Apologies.

Re: Community Scenario Pack (Updated August 22, 2025)

Having just updated to Version 1676, I've lost the Community Scenario Pack.

I downloaded Version 051 and copied it to C:/Program Files(x86)/Matrix Games/CommandModernOperations/Scenarios/CommunityScenarioPack051 but the game isn't picking it up.

Do I need to copy the extracted download to some ...

Re: Aircraft Deemed Below Ground Level

There was only the one save file for Northern Fury 30, so it is the right one. I'll otherwise trust your judgement about whether this duplicates another bug.

I'll use My Page to upload 1674 before I next play. Thanks for the advice.

Re: Aircraft Deemed Below Ground Level

That's really strange. The Hokum was very definitely airborne and the PCFG was not in port. Also, as the chopper was only 200' above a ground elevation of 453' (or should have been), there can't be any issue with it being above its operational ceiling.

Are you sure it's the same problem?

As for ...

Aircraft Deemed Below Ground Level

Playing Northern Fury 30 (Lance to the Chest), I tried to engage a Soviet Hokum chopper with a Mistral mounted on a Norwegian Hauk-class PCFG. The helicopter was flying at 200' and the ground level beneath it was 453', so the game interpreted it as being at -253' and, therefore, below the minimum 16 ...

Northern Fury 30 - Lance to the Chest 10/3/94

With the Soviets having crossed the Trondheimsfjorden, NATO tries to get two supply ships into Bergen and the Russians try to stop them. This low-complexity scenario can be played as either side.

Norwegian forces are pulling back to the line of the Sognefjord, N of Bergen and the Orions based at ...

Re: Pole Positions 27/6/17

Thanks, guys. This all sounds very positive.

While we're on map display colours, it would be good if we could have variable-colour text on-screen. I find it very frustrating being unable to read the main datablock (distance from selected units, depth, convergence zones, layer, etc) against the ...
