Re: beginner Axis

Hi.
Hope you are enjoying the game.
The first thing I would recommend is to follow the axiom: " He who would defend everything, defends nothing "
Winning this game requires you to knock down the American heavies faster than they are replaced. B17/24 replacements are 30 per day so concentrating on ...

Re: Axis Aircraft Production Question

Hi.
Having a full set of engine, parts and airframe in excess of a production line usually allows the finish of a complete aircraft but it can take several days to a week for it to happen for each one. (almost like the workers are doing it in their own time) BUT I have noticed that once you have ...

Thanks for all your effort in giving us this day by day account.
It's been a real joy reading these every morning, fascinating and sometimes emotional.

Re: Bug on the Allies side and bug on the Axis side

Hi.
Not sure about the 2nd issue being a bug, just an issue with the inaccuracy of the radar plot. Get your recon flight, the one at 35k plus right over the raid to get that accurate report before clicking intercept and no problems.
Only writing this as a long time LW player not a programmer. If ...

Re: Do the SE Night Fighters Convert to Day Ftrs at some point?

Cannot remember the exact date but yes they do revert to day fighters.
UNLESS you have changed them to dedicated twin engined night fighters, then that gruppe, or gruppen, remains as night fighters. And I think if you do change a gruppe to twins then it is not possible to change back to single ...

Re: Questions about AA

I also noticed that despite bulking up to approx 300 AA guns of all calibres it rarely succeeded in stopping a FB attack from damaging a radar site back up to 100 damage PROVIDED the site had been damaged previously.
The more guns you have the more gun losses you take but the serious amount of ...

Re: Questions about AA

Hi.
In my own experience it seems that more of what is actually present is destroyed. You generally have more light guns and even though the big 88's do more damage it's the light guns that take most of the damage.
I couldn't speculate on bombing heights.

Re: Eagle Day full campaign Day by Day

Hi.
You have not put up a screenshot of your points tally or to win points. This would be interesting for comparison.
Also losing 20 bombers in a raid probably meant the RAF made a conscious decision to target this raid above all others (see parallels in LW strategy late '44 onwards).
Personally I ...

Re: Eagle Day full campaign Day by Day

Hi.
First off, recons work best without an escort IMHO. Use the Ju 86P extensively, upgrading units when possible. It has a ceiling the RAF cannot touch so use it on the most important/distant targets. Also set up waypoint targets on the route home for additional photos (up to 4). For coastal ...

Re: Eagle Day full campaign Day by Day

Hi.
My main concern here is not your tactics or reasoning. All those can be tweaked or pursued more vigorously over time. And time is what you have. Try not to finish in 7 days what you have been given @6 times more.
This is most certainly a marathon and not a sprint.
Keep up the effort.

Re: Axis side

Hi.
Looking at BTR first.
You certainly can play as the Axis, including air units from Italy and the minor allies.
Short scenarios including a 1 day event and up to 6 weeks can get you into the game.
However it's the '44 and full length scenarios that unlock the full potential for playing the Axis ...

Re: Escorts

Hi.
I'm mostly replying from the other side of the coin here as I generally play LW.
It seems that what you are seeing is absolutely normal. Every mission, even if sent to the same target with the same units day after day will be different. Cloud could be a big factor hampering visuals for both ...

I played this as the Axis and was very lucky to get the win. A competent Allied player will nail this.

Re: Bob Pilot Losses

Hi.
The amount of pilot losses on the ground was far too high in both scenarios. Pilots were sitting in their cockpits rather than realistically seeking nearby cover. The historical pilot shortage was caused by losses in the air which you will have to replicate.
Good luck!

Re: Using rockets and A8 Sturms

Hi.
I load rockets onto my twins, use @6 groups of 109 G6R6 and a couple of 190A6R6. Maybe a couple of groups of 190 Sturm.
Some JG also get rockets but they will be in the 2nd line of bases.
However you have to remember that I generally pull 95% of LF3 back into LF Reich and LF2 is using bases in ...

Re: Troop holds bug?

Hi.
It's not a bug. Plenty of times after the fall of the Gustav line and the Normandy front I have had German divisions destroyed. You will get a message if that fact has happened. The divisions are reconstituted far from the front.
The 29th did its job and delayed the Allies but suffered ...

Re: As the Germans, do you use the Me410 and similar?

Hi.
Using the term 'loaded' is a bit wrong? I get this term from the board game Airforce by Battleline/AH. It referred to planes carrying bombs/rockets/gun pods and put restrictions on manoeuvrability/speed just the same as this game does.
Carrying that extra ordnance on a single engined aircraft ...

Re: Some Observations on the Current Game with New Patch

HI.
You quote the historical fact that the Axis started to lose due to better Allied aircraft/crews and losses unsustainable to the Axis airforces. That's what is happening to you. A great victory does not come without loss and which side can put those losses back together quicker?
If you have been ...
