I went back into the game to see if I could re-create the starving troops syndrome. I re-created it 3 games in a row when selecting the "Robinson Crusoe" scenario.

My Capital city "Pacifica" has changed its name to that as a neighboring city, now I have 2 cities called Peznoa. Beats me when the hiccup happened for the name change nothing odd has happened that I can point my finger at.

Check your stratagem cards, there is a card you can play against your, sticky, fingered, leaders to try and recoup the funds they have stolen. It's not that rare of a card, I frequently get them in all my games.

There is a minimize screen option inside the pref's tab. I know it doesn't fit the bill but at least you can switch out the screens to read your manual running in the background.

Keep your eye on the AU distance too, earth has an AU distance of 1. If you get too close to the sun you'll get dry arid worlds too far away you'll get colder icier worlds.
