RE: Enjoying Shadow Empire While Totally Blind

<t> "Hi All,<br/>

Long time no see."<br/>
Am I really the only one who chuckled? Has the modern world devolved to the point that we can't laugh at a blind man's jokes because our laughter might offend someone?<br/>
Blindguy, I have nothing to offer beyond moral support. This game has ...

RE: So is this a good game?

<t> I'm not huge on 4x or hex war, but I'm loving this game; hell, I'd give it game of the decade in my personal awards. My main background is grand strategy, going back to Europa Universalis 1. Ive dabbled in 4x and hex, mostly 4x, both before and after, but this is the most fun I can remember ...

Shadow Priests: good or bad?

<t> The card says avoid retreats. Ok, if it avoids unnecessary retreats, due to low morale, that MAY be good. If it avoids retreats due to overwhelming odds or lack of ammo, that sounds bad. I'm not sure how to treat these cards. They're free, so I'm tempted to spam them on units, but very wary ...

RE: Don't trust the odds

My initial example is the only example given and the relation score is 99 as seen in the second quote. He had just been appointed during previous turn, so not sure if that has some impact.

RE: Don't trust the odds

<t> Thanks for the link. Interesting read, but I'm still not clear on what's giving the observed results. And no thoughts of malice at play, moreso an oversight on the way +/- adjustments are applied to the roll vs how it is presented to the player.<br/>

As for relation: 99. Mr Sidewalker ...

Don't trust the odds

<t> I'm a relative newbie to the game, so I've been savescumming a bit. If that bothers you in regards to a single player game, save me the hate and find another thread.<br/>
<br/>
Anyways, I've found that I don't really trust the odds presented. I know, I know, small sample size, statistics, I'm ...

RE: Sec overseeing spying instead of SupCom?

<t> Just to be clear, the save I was referring to was accessed later as a test, before the Secret Service council was enacted, to see if there was a problem then. There wasn't, SupCom was rolling then. After enactment was finalised, SecSrvc was rolling. But in the interim, after initiating SecSrvc ...

Sec overseeing spying instead of SupCom?

<t> Early game, don't have a Secret Service council yet, just put the order in for one. Have one measly spy to use, and noticed that now my useless, subordinate Secretary is directing spying. Almost assured of failure, but why isn't my Supreme Commander directing it, as before?<br/>

RE: Advisor strategy

<t> Malevolence, hadn't considered sixth sense, would seem to be especially useful on a governor specific or OHQ specific advisor, as those seem to use the widest range of skills.<br/>
Per your crossed out comments, do advisors not level skills faster as they are used? I'm confused there. Do they ...

RE: Advisor strategy

<t> Thanks for the replys. I don't know what an average array of starting leaders looks like, but current game I started with no level I and only 1 level II Cap leader, as well as 1 V(!) and 1 IV. Much better than the pool of Is and IIs with a single IV that I had in my first couple of games. First ...

Advisor strategy

<t> So what strategy do you use for the advisor positions? In my first trial games my initial advisors happened to be the highest CAP people in my cabinet, so I assigned them according to their skills vs my weaknesses, and kept them advisors. Of course they became masters, basically overshadowing ...

Logistics view numbers hard to read

<t> I understand the different logistic modes now, but often the numbers are hard to read. It may be different on different planets/terrain (my experience is limited to rather lush Siwa), but Used Pts in white is easiest to read so far. Current Pts in green is a bit rough in forests, but the worst ...

Custom planet designs, please!

<t> I appreciate the planet category limitations, but please allow us to custom tailor planets as well. For example, on planets that qualify for the entire bio range of possibilities, I don't want to reroll for an hour to get that right mix I'm looking for. I would love to be able to choose a planet ...
