Re: Playing Axis vs AI Soviet on "Normal"

A couple things to consider:

How you play the game is very much a personal preference. If you don't want to deal with managing the Air war, don't fret it. Try playing one GC using the Air AI and focus on mastering the ground war.
This is probably THE MOST detailed game ever. There is a lot to ...

Re: Sending air supplies to a specific airfield?

Hit the airdrop button/icon and click on the airfield.

How much supply gets delivered depends a few things: on how many transports you have, how far they are from the new airfield. It'd be best if you set up a depot to receive the supply.

Don't expect a ton (pun intended) of supply to be ...

Re: Playing Axis vs AI Soviet on "Normal"

I don't use AI for depots or Air. Far better to manage that yourself.

How many GC's have you started?
My first 6 were utter failures. Maybe I am a slow learner. But you need to know how far you CAN advance and how far you NEED to advance. And how to do so.

You need an exceptional first turn; then ...

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

I think that taking Leningrad in 1941 is a must. This does 2 things:
30 points (it is a game...)
It frees up 4th Panzer Armee

In my current game, I took Leningrad on Turn 21.
After Leningrad falls, I keep 4th Pz Arm near Leningrad until early 42. I put the panzer divisions in towns ...

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

You can’t alter the production data, it’s set by the game.

FWIW, I got to Stalingrad in September of 42 and came to a screeching halt. No supply, all units virtually useless. I went back to December of 41 and am trying to take Rostov by March 42 so I can build up the rail roads and have Rostov be ...

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

In large cities I put one fortified zone with an HQ and usually one other unit. I add a construction SU, a Flak unit and sometimes a Pioneer unit to the Fort. This helps increase the value of the fort. Good supply makes a difference. I would have to re-read the manual again to determine what impact ...

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

1. It's proven impossible to rest units when it feels like my front is holding on for dear life. Even comparing the screenshots you sent...why does it seem like the soviet army in my game has WAY more units attacking? Obviously you had reduced the army more than I had at this point, but this ...

It is amazing how important Turn 1 is for the whole campaign.

You guys make it sound like editting a MS Word doc with embedded images is complicated.

Trust me, it is not. It is done all the time without issue. (academia, government, software development...)

Any decent tech writer would have no problem.

What about Sevastopol area? did you besieged or bypass it?
Outstanding feat to reach Orel - Kursk - Rostov line in 1941 ... i never made it

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

A few questions came up as I read your message:

1. When you talk about the "mud turns" - what exactly do you mean? I've seen rains in October that cause light mud...but surely that's too early to stop?
2. When you talk about "digging in", what techniques do you use? The only thing I can think of ...

Re: How to approach the winter of 1941 as axis

I have played WITE2 since it came out. I am not in the same league as those who post here frequently. I am but a mere mortal. I can't grind, I can't herd. I play sloppy at times, I tend to rush through turns (that's a result of playing while working...) But I love the game and am having fun ...

Axis Turn 24, Luftflotte 2 Transfer advice

What is the best advice for Luftflotte 2 before turn 24, when it is supposed to transfer?

1. Cancel the transfer
2. Transfer the subordinate units to other Luftflottes
3. What happens to the subordinate units if it does transfer, do they go with

thx

Re: Where the Iron Crosses Grow: K62 (Axis) vs Veterin (Soviet) GC41

Well I know that…but why never set a depot to 0 east of Berlin? Doesn’t setting a depot to 1 hold supply in that depot? Why have depots in Poland set at 1 in ‘41-‘42?

Most real-life logistical systems use intermediate depots and WitE2 does a good job of simulating this. Priority 1 depots don ...

Re: Where the Iron Crosses Grow: K62 (Axis) vs Veterin (Soviet) GC41

At that point you need to reduce it below priority 4. However, don't EVER reduce any depot east of Berlin to 0 (ports excluded).
Can you expand on that? Doesn't this keep some supply in those depots that could be used at the front?

Meh. These are basic, generic bullet points that any beginning strategic game player should know, for any war game.

Does not provide any insight into HOW to actually play and win WITE2 or provide specific details about the game.

Proof again that AI isn’t end all be all.
