Re: USA early declaration of war

Thanks. Looks like it's the Indochina event. I'll start saying no to that, not worth the price.

USA early declaration of war

I was playing as Japan, AI everything else. Just tinkering around with different tactics and letting the AI do its thing.

I took Nanning in Spring 1940 and USA declared war two turns later. I don't understand why this happened. I didn't do any early DOWs or anything, just, as I said, doing my thing ...

Re: New player contemplating game balance

Welcome to the ultimate JOMT (just one more turn) game.

Personally, I would pay up for an upgraded version of this game, AI wise. It does wacky things, like charge the Afrika Corps off into the middle of the desert where it withers away. It can't maintain supply lines well, except for some well ...

I have moved on from Smolensk and now sitting in Moscow awhile, but same deal.

Thank you very much for your help!

Red supply values (again)

I have a German HQ sitting in Smolensk for 10 turns now. It often gives a red supply (lowered) value, even though it has done nothing, not moved, nothing. If it matters, there are no nearby enemy units nearby, nor any unoccupied partisan hexes. What is causing this, and, more importantly, how can it ...

Re: HQ's

Holy crap I've been playing this wrong with my lazy style for hundreds of hours. No wonder my air units are often ineffective and Germany collapses in 1943.

Re: ERROR FAILED(draw_working_text_to_screen)

No, I don't get your issue. I only mention my issue because it has something to do with the map, generally speaking.

What does it mean? I dunno, I just come here to kill things.

Re: ERROR FAILED(draw_working_text_to_screen)

Ha ha... ok! I have been getting the segmentation error since first launch. It seems to happen when allied paratroops drop next to a river in France. Yesterday it seemed to happen when moving troops around fruitlessly in Peru.

It used to keep recurring, and the only way I could resolve it was to ...

Re: ERROR FAILED(draw_working_text_to_screen)

I get the segmentation error a lot. Used to get it on an allied paradrop in Europe occasionally; yesterday I got it after monkeying around with Peru to see what I could do with it.

What is the highest level AI opponent people can win against as Germany/Italy?

Played a lot on and off now over the last 4 years. The best I can do is against a downgraded Veteran (+10% MPP, no experience bonus). If I go up against full Veteran, I can't manage to take out the USSR.

What do people do with mobility upgrades (Germany)

My very first game, I ignored the cost of mobility upgrades, and upgraded the entire German force in mobility. It became the fastest, smallest army imaginable, at least in regard to how fast it became surrounded and obliterated by the USSR. That experience gave me PTSD :D . Nowadays I only upgrade ...

RE: Japanese reinforcements in India

This reminds me: When I play as Germany and Japan is AI, a Japanese sub always docks for repair at Bushehr (sp?) in the Persian Gulf when it is controlled by Germany, where it never repairs. It just sits out the rest of the war there.

Yep, I do it fairly often at the same time I take out Vichy (early '42). Its suprisingly easy, actually. I just like to see them cry.

RE: What's next generation SC-WAW? Time to double size map & # turns?

<t> I would be happy with a smarter AI; I really don't care for playing human opponnents. I've had big problems with its management of HQs (it tends to clump them all together near the front. My last game, all German HQs were kept within 4 hexes of Warsaw in 1943. You move them out, it moves them ...

Afrika Corps duplication glitch

<t> I just encountered a somewhat game-breaking glitch with the Afrika Corps. I was playing as Axis, all three countries under 12/40, because I wasn't happy with how the AI routinely mishandles the Afrika Corps and gets it wiped out. The Afrika Corps deployed in Italy. I then turned over Germany and ...
