Re: New! v1127 Public Beta Available

I like the confirmation for disbanding a TF, they are at the heart of the game and deserve every click and button they get.
Some more attention would have been nice for land units, the PP cost for organizing unrestricted units is a bit high and might have been eliminated totally.

Re: Reasons for stockpiling devices

There is an option in the editor which governs whether squads and devices disappear or get dumped in the pools when a unit withdraws or disbands. I think as a general rule units that withdraw usually take the stuff with them and units that disband drop the stuff into the pools, but there might ...

I have an almost ready opening, but I dont know if it s compatible with the final patch or 4 engine bombers on low naval. :P

Re: Any IJ Player?

Well, that's one house rule then. At least for a non-historical start. Most of them I've noted appear aimed at 'gamey' tactics, but I find myself asking what's gamey.
I guess 4 engine bombers at 100 feet vs shipping although I believe I have read at least one reference to that actually happening ...

Re: Any IJ Player?

I hadn't thought about it. 'Non-historical'. Isn't there something for the Allies? Can't they also at least move their carriers even with surprise on?

Would that be a surprise anymore?
Usually the Japanese player is restricted by house rule to go after the US CVs in turn 1 and not allowed ...

Re: Icechuck's Round 2 AAR - New Player Japan Experience

Does he has detection on those oilers?

He has 3/6 detection from the PBYs based at Johnston Island. I don't think he has any strike ability, and they'll have CAP when they reach the Marshalls. The Marshalls seem like the safest place to run them, given they can't keep up with KB and I don't ...

Re: That's quite confusing.

I read it so that both a Shoho lookout and the Kates crew spotted and reported the Allied patrol aircraft.
The ac might be from a carrier but conducting search as it is following the TF, doctrinally US carrier ac on search should also try to bomb after reporting the TF.

Not sure now and just looked but didn't see it. In non-historical I though IJ had flexibility in set hexes with some units having a movement bonus to represent pre-game movement(?) I never played non-historical.

I just divide the map in to combat commands, land, sea or both, similar as historically both sides did and the management portion in to phases, ground, air, naval.

Re: Altitude, Air Group Missions and Patrol levels

For those who are newer here, the % rest you need to use is largely driven by the SR of aircraft involved. Higher SR requires more % rest. SR is partly driven by number of engines. Most players will find that for SR=1, 30% is adequate. For multi-engine planes like Mavis, don't be surprised if ...
