Re: Why can't I withdraw these ships from Sydney?

Without pictures all we can do is guess. But if the combination of all damage is over 50, or if the Japanese player has air superiority, they will not withdraw....GP

No button to withdraw but it is due today. Date is 07/15/42. Ship has been in port for many days.

Re: Pilot Question

BTW, don't neglect to train your carrier DB/TB with Naval Search when at port. It certainly helps with detection and target detection level.

If the DBs have high NavB and NavS, but the TBs only have high NavT (low NavS), would the TBs be able to 'follow' the DBs to the target if the strike is ...

Re: Why can't I withdraw these ships from Sydney?

How long have the ships been in Sydney? It might take a turn for them to register once they arrive.

Run another turn and see if they will withdraw. If not, as the Admiral says, screenshots of the ship screens might help.

It was this (sort of). They had been in port for a while but for some ...

Why can't I withdraw these ships from Sydney?

I don't know if I'm misunderstanding something from the manual, but I can't withdraw SS KX or CL Dragon from Sydney. They are fully repaired, not in a TF or being repaired either.

Re: A-24 Banshee

What squadrons use them? I have a headquarter squadron that uses them but I was looking for one that had a larger size.

Is there something with the Ironman campaign that differs from the standard and that is why I can't seem to find a home for them? I understand having outdated planes as I get new ...

A-24 Banshee

May '42 Ironman against Japan AI

I have 43 of these planes in the pool and can't find any use for them. No squadrons use them or upgrade to them. I don't see any reinforcement schedule using them either. A couple squadrons arrived with them and had to withdraw soon after and now they're just ...

As I've just done a clean install to play 1127 for the first time, I can also confirm the Waiouru inland location with the port build option.

Platoonist was showing the scenario list from the most recent update.

By that, do you mean 1127? If so, I'll go ahead and do a new install and try it out.

Semi-related question regarding it...the changelog shows hardly anything really changing compared to 26b. Is that all that was changed or ...

Re: Scenario 10 or Scenario 102?

There actually is a milder version of Ironman currently included in the game listed as Scenario 004. However, the scenario description is in serious error describing it as a 1942 start scenario. It actually starts in December '41. This might be the official version of the tier one (T1) scenario ...

Re: Scenario 10 or Scenario 102?

Also, I don't see any description or text in the scenario startup/notes section when you load it the first time in game. Another reason why I thought perhaps it was not finished. That, or I did not install it properly.

Scenario 10 or Scenario 102?

Looking to start a GC as the Allies against Japan AI on something other than the stock scenario #1. In trying to follow the years worth of discussion and updates, it looks like there is an updated Ironman scenario and then a revisited AI ("I need Help - AI Testing") version of the same one. I think ...

Re: Question on navy search

Certainly going to have to base much of this on observation without evidence. I am not trying to bomb anything in particular...it's more of a question that everything else being equal, would a search mission have the same result as an ASW mission? That is, both theoretical missions have a 70/70 ASW ...

Re: Question on navy search

I've always run Naval and ASW Search at 50%, and don't use arcs for any of the TFs and many of the islands. So my results have been pretty good, with very few attrition losses. You still want to train those pilots in the necessary skills, however. For example, the Japanese AI is pretty good at ...

Re: If/When I win as Allies in Scenario #1 for the first time, what next?

My issue with the Ironman scenarios is that they make the Japanese AI more competitive, yes. But in a premise that bears no relation to history as the resource-strapped Japan of the 1930s while mired in China discreetly cranks out a humungous military establishment on the side without crashing its ...

Load a 1000 capacity xAKL in Chittagong. Move the loaded xAKL to Ramree Island. Wait there for bad weather forecast (Rain/Thundestorms) and then move at full speed to Rangoon. In Rangoon disband the TF manually. Wait for bad weather again. In bad weather, form the loaded xAKL TF in ...

If/When I win as Allies in Scenario #1 for the first time, what next?

No PBEM
Playing as Allies
Ahistorical is ok

I'm looking for more of a challenge. I understand the limit that the AI will always have with this and that is ok. I just want the Japanese side to be able to stay in the war for much longer...to push me to the brink and make me dig deep to come back from ...

Re: How to keep PM and Rangoon in supply?

It is difficult. You might try a high CAP to take on any escorting fighters while a low (6k) CAP is there to engage the bombers. Or just do a very low CAP if the enemy is sweeping high and not using any escorting fighters. The low CAP may avoid the sweepers while still engaging the bombers.
