I changed that in a mod I did 12 years ago. Raiders and commandos could load and not Paratroops....GP

Hi Ranger Joe,
How do you change this - presumably in the game editor?

I think it was because players were making unrealistic landings with large multi-sub TFs.
[/quote]

In a 4 sub TF, the most you could land would be 4 squads the only thing you could use it for would be to grab a dot or unoccupied base surely?

Re: Supply losses

In order to bo loaded onto a sub, an LCU should be in Move mode.

Ok, I put Cebu BF in move mode & put SS Gato supply capacity 60 (my largest capacity sub of the 8) in a sub transport TF & it still would not load I got a message along the lines of "unable to allocate any load to any ship" , are ...

Re: Supply losses

Looking at the map, I don't see how you could have 115 supplies at Laogag.
Either you shipped supplies there (Laogag has a port) or used transport planes to fly some supplies there.
If you did neither, than I have no idea where the supplies came from.

I had 2 Sub-Transport TF's (8 subs ...

How do you know you lost exactly 115 supply? The combat report only has "supply hits" for air raids.

Re: Reinforcing Air Squadrons

I think maybe we are talking at cross purposes. There are both scheduled and unscheduled AG removals each with two methods, withdraw or disband.

Unschedule withdrawal to another AG tranfers all AC to that unit, the pilots stay with the unit. If there is no unit to join then all ready AC go to the ...

Re: Reinforcing Air Squadrons

You should never disband an air squadron - they're essential to your pilot-training program. Even w/ only 2 planes, over time they'll reliably train skills to around 60-level & increase experience to about 50-level, for their full complement of pilots drawn from the robust USA/USN/USMC replacement ...

RJ, I use the PrtScr key without the Windows key and it captures the screen to the clipboard just the same. A bit simpler if you are trying to capture a combat animation moment.

In v28.4 scen #1 other than some FP I can only see one AG that arrives that has an authorised AC of two. A picture or at least group name would help.

Re: Reinforcing Air Squadrons

Hi,
thanks for the reply. I have disbanded several US bomber HQ squadrons (as they are tiny) and stuck the plane into another bomber squadron, but I'm nervous about disbanded RAF & bigger US squadrons in case I get a bunch of planes later. I suppose I could try just withdrawing them for 90 days ...

Hi,
I moved it in "Move" mode in the option screen (it had been pushed into the mountains East of Laog as a result of combat and I couldn't resist the urge to do something with it before it disintegrated like sone Dutch units in islands further South) & it shock attacked the empty base as I forgot ...

Reinforcing Air Squadrons

Hi,

I've noticed a lot of reinforcing air squadrons only seem to have 2 aircraft & 2 pilots (including the squadron commander). I'll accept this was US practice as I know nothing about their organisation, but I don't see the RAF forming a squadron of 2 aircraft and sending it to the Far East ...

Supply losses

Hi,

I recently moved the 2nd PA Constabulary Divn into Laoag as the Japanese weren't coming into the mountains to fight me & had no troops there. I captured the town with 0 supply and The 2 PA Divn had 0 supply (presumably using the bayonet), but then I became target practice for the Japanese who ...

Hi Mike,
I took one look at having to manage not only airplane production, but engine production as well and gave up on the idea of playing the Japanese.

Kudos to you for giving it a go, well done!

This is the type of fight that always bothered me when I was playing the allies because on paper the allies should have the upper hand. Better gunnery and naval tactics makes a big difference.

Re: How to Choose Leaders

To answer the numbers question this only applies to the normal complement, not the reserves as reserves don't fly missions. Normal comlement is 25, the extra 9 are available to fly if any of the other 25 pilots can't. The AI chooses.

Re: How to Choose Leaders

Another question if I may.

I have fragmented the Dutch Comandante Marin, the main body is still at Soerajaba, with small elements containing 10 & 11 naval support at Waingapoe & Koepang, I can't see a command radius on the fragments.
Do the fragments still function as a Naval HQ?

Thanks

Re: How to Choose Leaders

Red pilots names indicate the pilot has no aircraft to fly. It's most often seen and applied to leaders who can fly as they seem to be the ones selected if the group is short of aircraft. If there's any reserve aircraft available there will be used. Not sure it's entirely consistent or important ...
