Mexican OOB? Awesome!!! Maybe we could also have some sort of Pan-American forces, ala 'Invasion America' (an old SSI wargame for those of advanced age).

<t>Mike, I agree it is thought-provoking, and I will check out the book, but I find it hard to believe that an Axis strategy for the Med was based on a USA strategy. First, there is evidence that Hitler let the UK army escape at Dunkirk, as he felt the destrcution of the Empire would not be ...

<t>Mein Kampf may have much of Hitler's thinking, but re:United States, the best books that I know of are 'The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich' by William L. Schirer and 'Adolf Hitler' by John Toland. These two works provide not only a close up look at the dictator from many angles, they also go in ...

Could be the real German Panzer crews felt the same way...sure, it's uneven, but a Panther or Tiger is a powerful weapon...how many T-34's (especially if not T-34/85) can take one of those out with a front shot, or sometimes even a flank shot? 8-1 may be extreme, though.

<t>1)The 88 mm was definitely a dual purpose gun (ask any B-17 pilot), although I think it had to be set up for AA fire differently-not real sure it couldn't be quickl switched in a combat setting, though.<br/>
2)I suspect because off-map artillery is not organic; it is usually given (i.e. loaned)by ...

<t>Smoke, smoke and more smoke...I usually have one support PZ platoon (PZ IV's) in my core force beacuse of all the early German tanks they can throw pinpoint smoke. In assualt scenarios, I usually take some recon (I find motorcycles work best..long range and the AI cannot resist them) to hopefully ...

<t>Just a few well-meant thoughts: I realize that chat forums are a combination suggestion box/complaint box, yet I am also somewhat surprised by the lack of discussion involving tactics or gameplay in different scenarios or battles. It may be useful to keep in mind that this game was FREE, as were ...

<t>I don't know this for sure, but it seems that the all-move command will not work (with or without C&C) if there is an inkling of a chance of opportunity fire occurring. This also holds true if there are minefields, etc. If there is absoulutely no chance of ANYTHING happening to a unit, then it ...

<t>Thor, it's true what you say to some degree, especially as regards battlefield integrity. SPWAW allows the battle to go to the last man standing..a concession to playability, I guess. But the ASL (and SL) scenarios have the map and OOB somewhat in shape, a major plus for those of us with limited ...

<t>Six-px, it's called 'Hill 621', and is defintely one of the best SL converts to ASL. Hordes of Russians against a scratch, but elite, German force. Some ASL (or SL) scenarios have already made it into SPWAW (Chateau de Quesnoy and Here We Stay, for example). The Citadel is another good choice ...

<t>I also wouldn't mind some revision of the impassable calculations. I have never (with any tank from a Tiger to a PZ II) seen a stone wall not immobilize any vehicle. Now, for smaller tanks this is probably realistic, but there should at least be some chance for the larger vehicles to blow through ...

<t>Wild Bill, I agree with you. One of the best things that has come from wargaming for me personally has been experiencing failure. This may sound strange to some, but if one always can 'play God' on the battlefield, it not only cuts into the realism factor, it never teaches one to experiment with ...

Greetings from Stalingrad

Redleg,
Awesome job on the Stalingrad scenarios-some of the best and challenging I've played to date. The extreme effects of street fighting are brought to life, and I heartily recommend it to anyone with an interest in city-fighting tactics. Thanks for the time and effort.

I've been a Steel Panthers fan since the game was released eons ago, and I want to pass on that this is the most unselfish, suprlative effort I've seen in the wargaming community in some time. I also am looking forward to the new revisions of the old SSI titles as well, as they ...
