RE: All Ye Olde Grognards!

Dave Briggs, I just noticed you are also from Sacramento. If you get a chance, e-mail off line with your gaming interests and possibly we can get together to play.

RE: All Ye Olde Grognards!

<t> The first real board wargame I played was Breitenfeld from Strategy and Tactics magazine. My favs during that period were Panzer Gruppe Guderian (a classic), Sniper, and the Melee/Wizard series. After many years off from wargaming, I picked up Steel Panthers 3 for $5 from a bargain bin at the ...

RE: Best Chase Scene in a film

<t> For comedy, I have always liked "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad World." (Possibly missing a "Mad" there in the title.) The entire movie is chase scene, although some parts digress in places, such as the destruction of the gas station scene. The actors in it were some of the biggest comedians of the time ...

RE: WOW

<t> Bizzard's work is top notch, excellent mechanics and excellent graphics. So if you are into MMORPGs I am sure you will not be disappointed with WOW. Myself, I prefer Starcraft and Warcraft 3. I also do not like the concept of paying a monthly fee just to play one game. In contrast, a monthly fee ...

Can someone give me a hand here? I followed the link to Jess' showcase, but I do not see a file download. What am I missing?<br/>

RE: Download Link for SPWaW V8.20

David,

The install went fine for me with no problems. Game plays without any bugs, but I have not had the chance to get into the changes yet. I have Panzer Gruppe Guderian on the table to finish first...

Thanks again for the free game!

That would be a dream concert Bullet. Moosehead goes with almost anything... Got a couple shows on you though, I've managed to get 5 shows. Heard Rush will tour again in the near future. Maybe I will make it to their next "final" tour.

RE: Matrix Games Limits Retail and Expands Direct Sales

<t> In response to David's original comment about shrinking retail space for PC games, I have not seen that here in Sacramento. The downtown EB has its back wall dedicated to PC games--about a third of the store's display space. Among the many titles displayed the rack today included HTTR, Massive ...

As forum watcher for sometime, my advice is for you to be yourself, have fun, and don't take anything personal. If someone else wants to take it personal, then the he** with them! Above all, don't get burned out on being the Mod. You're doing a great job in my eyes.<br/>

RE: Do You Think Virtual Tours Make Good Demos

<t> I liked the virtual tour as it gave me a good overview of the game's features. The downside is that it does not give a feeling for the gameplay like a demo might. However, my experience with demos is that many are full of bugs. A well done demo, like Battlefield 1942, can sell a game, but a ...

RE: How Long Have You Been Playing Wargames?

I another of the 21+ crowd, having started with games like Sniper!, Firefight, and Squad Leader, among others. This was around 1978, but I layed off for years until I found SP3 in a bargain bin for $5 while traveling in Bakersfield a couple of years ago.

<t> It's great that you want to play the older boardgames. Here are some ideas for you:<br/>

Try either of the Blue and Grey quads by SPI (and later TSR). These quad games were relatively straight forward and easy to play within 2-3 hours. With four games in each package, there is variety in ...
