Download the document Rich Dionne mentioned. It's very helpful. However, don't think the going will be easy even with paper in hand. This game is rough and it will take many hours of real concentration to get a handle on it.<br/>

<t>As I understand it, War in the Pacific is a new game being developed by Matrix (in conjunction with The Great Grigsby himself). It will be a native Windows game. Pacific War is the name of Grigsby's previous effort in this field. It is a DOS-only game, and the version just released by Matrix is ...

An approach I'd like to see

<t>Instead of doing another "dry" treatment, why don't you guys try to humanize the Pacific War a bit? Only the Civil War, in my opinion, can even compete with the drama of war in this theater, yet up 'til now no one that I know of has tried to communicate that in a game. <br/>

You're absolutely right. That was the hex and it is a coastal hex (though just barely). Sorry for the false alarm.

P.S. Since we're on the subject: are the spaces in PW actually hexes, or are they offset squares?

Pathfinding

I have a naval task force that appears to be sitting inland 100 miles or so, near Phnom Phenh. Since I just started playing PW, I don't know if this is a normal, known anomaly or not, but I thought I'd let you know, as I know the pathfinding was reworked for this new edition.

Maybe you need to allocate expanded/extended memory manually? I had to do this to get the original PW to run in a DOS box under Win98. I can't see why it would cause an exception, but it might be worth a try.

[OT] Crusaders Studios

<t>Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what happened to Crusaders Studios? I was reading an old copy of Debrief magazine (9/98), and they had an ad in there for a game called Greyhounds of the Sea that they were working on. Is the game still in development anywhere? What happened to this company ...
