Elmo:

That what it says, I've just never seen them actually do it. I have seen P40's try to strafe a BB, but I've never seen a level bomber (B-17, A-20, Hudson.....) ever drop a bomb from 100'.

<t>Strange. In my game, over four months of constantly using level bombers to attack ships I don't think I hit a single one. All the bombers were set to attack at 100'. Similarly, I had torpedo bombers at PM that usually just sat around and watched Japanese ships moving around. They did actually ...

<t>Well guys, the inevitable has happened. First the Japanese siezed Gilli Gilli (destroying an Aussie division in the process), then they got Zeros and Betty's onto the island. The very next week my 3 CV TF was run down by the Japanese carriers. Not much I could do against a CAP of 148 Zeros. I did ...

<t>I am playing #17 and the date is early August. Using the "hit-em where they ain't" strategy is only partially successful. I am finding that his carriers stay grouped all the time. If I head towards Guadalcanal, he sends all his carriers after me, meaning I have to clear out PDQ, if I head west ...

Stopping Japanese CV Super-TF

<t>Anyone have any idea how to stop a Japanese carrier super task force(s)?<br/>
<br/>
Here's the situation:<br/>
<br/>
Gilli is Japanese, I have 3 operational carriers (in one TF), generally in the area near Aus/New Guinea, Port Moresby has been suppressed by massive air attacks (from Rabaul ...

<t>Just wanted to post a follow up to my previous point. I started another game as the Germans in '41. This time I got within striking distance of Moscow in early October while causing massive casualties to the Soviets. In fact there are very few Soviet units in the central part of the map (around ...

<r>I brought this up before but I am fairly convinced that weather has <I><s></s>something<e></e></I> to do with how successfull the Germans are in '41. It seems that games where I am not doing well as the Germans winter '41 is mild, but whenever I am doing really well the same winter is much ...

<t>I think Hitler succeeded early in the war becasue his delusions turned out to be fairly reflective of reality. However when the reality changed Hitler's delusions did not and he became increasingly out of touch with the conduct of the war.<br/>

<t>I am basing the appearance dates on the alt+r report. For example, in a current game I set the factory control to human during the first turn figuring I would see if I could run the factories better than the computer. Anyway, the date is now middle of November and the Marder factories have not ...

Factory control

<t>Perhaps this question has been asked before but I'll ask anyway.<br/>
<br/>
If the game is played with Human Factory control turned on, how does this affect new factories appearing (ie for new models of equipment)? I started a 1941 game as the Germans and it appears as if the factories for some ...

I believe you...really. It's easier to blame the other side for cheating than it is to accept "bad luck" as an explanation. Especially when it is so damn convenient for the enemy. It all goes back to those early PC games and first impressions.

<t>Just an update to my earlier posts. I played some more of the October turns and by the end of the month I'd had 3 snow turns and 1 rain turn. Put a serious damper on my ability to take Moscow. I'm really starting to get suspicious. One of the Panzer corps outside Moscow shattered and the other I ...

Quite true, but sometimes I'm right. I started playing PC wargames in the mid-80's where the "AI" always played by a different set of rules and was always able to do things a human couldn't. You know what they ...

I had the same problem running it under Win2000 but didn't really try to troubleshoot it. My initial guess is that it is either a memory problem (DOS memory that is) or a video problem. A lot of old DOS games are very particular about memory and video. It's also possible that the ...
