Re: How old are the average Wargamers here?

I believe it was 1963, first Broadside and then Dogfight from Milton Bradley. Later, like 1965 it was D-Day from AH. From then on, a gambit of others, AH and then SPI, a strategy and tactics subscription. Played by mail with some of my buddies where you used stock prices for die rolls.

Re: Elvis Gold Records

JJR just get a cheap 17 inch laptop and plug in a 32 inch monitor. SC doesn't need a Nvidia graphics card or anything expensive, just make sure you get enough RAM and a solid state disk drive. The 17 inch keyboard is big enough and you'll have portability as a bonus. Should be less than a grand!

Re: Tips for playing Allies in MP.

If you want to win as Allies, you must keep the USSR in the game.

The way to do that is build as many units as possible and retreat, do not be concerned with losing capitals.

Use the UK and USA to help build minimum corps size units, preserve those units and USSR will never surrender.

Re: The World at War ELO Tournament

Just play the 42 High Tide scenario; no gambits, little diplomacy, no early surrenders, a real slugfest from the first turn!

Re: What music are you listening to now?

Don't forget "Born on the Bayou" with many happy days down in the ole Louisiana swamps.

Now come on JJR, you've got to listen to Coldplay and Richard Ashcroft do Bittersweet Symphony in Hyde Park and then tell me they are not good?

Re: Supply

It's OK Bill. Got to the next turn and supply was what it should be (8). This anomaly has occurred many times before, especially in Russia, I just decided to post this one, NBD!

Supply

I can't find an explanation for the supply 6 on the second HQ. This is for the future supply status, second S function after transporting Richie from Tripoli to Algiers. These are the only two HQs in the theater, both full strength.

Can US/UK stalemate Axis without USSR?

Never tried this before, late 44, Italy just took down USSR (usually auto-surrender). Hotseat, I'm teched up better than the Axis and am on the continent(got Paris), Japs not doing so well, no major losses either way.

Can the Allies stalemate the Axis sans Reds?

Re: Enough of blah-blah threads, when can I buy this puppy?

OK Bill I'm patient but is there any new game mechanics to look forward to or is this just a bigger map and the same old sprites and SC3 features we've seen for the last 5 years?

Re: City defense, is AA even worth it?

Put an AA upgraded unit in an upgraded town, city, fortification etc. and park an upgraded AA unit next to it. What does that spell?

If the unit is an upgraded infantry, like special forces, with an entrenchment, it is an impregnable position.

Like Port Moresby.

Already own it, a good dividend payer, but for future positions, my eyes are on CVX. Needs to pull back a little and then pull the trigger! :)
